Before, there were only two Logitech sticks I even paid attention to: the WingMan Interceptor, and the Strike Force 3D. The Interceptor was very ergonomic and had three hat switches along with a two-way rocker under the trigger, another button to be pressed with the middle finger, and a single thumb button. However, it had no rudder control and uses a digital gameport interface. The Strike Force 3D had one less hat switch and only two buttons as opposed to four on the base, but it has a scroll wheel between the two base buttons, force-feedback, and USB. Too bad that the pots were coupled to the gimbals in a poor manner so that physical movement along only one axis would trigger a slight electrical response in the other due to the pot shifting around!

I never thought that Logitech would ever introduce another joystick with more than one much-needed hat switch, but I was just proven wrong big time-along with the first consumer split throttle I've seen since the old Suncom SFS Throttle, and a nice-looking pair of rudder pedals with toe brakes.

If the G940 doesn't have that pot issue in the stick, I'm sold...as soon as I gather 300 US$, anyway. It won't replace my FCC-modded Cougar and HS+ RCS pedals, but it will complement them. Cougar stick for modern jets like the F-16 (stiff, pressure-driven stick's more realistic for those aircraft), G940 stick for prop jobs and helicopters (deflecting sticks with FFB are easier to use with these aircraft). Cougar throttle for the F-16, G940 split throttle for everything else. Rudder pedals are a toss-up depending on how the spacing compares to the RCS.

Oh, and exactly where is the mini-analog stick? Is it on the left side of the stick shaft, near the middle, where most sticks would have a button or a hat switch?

The joystick's microstick is the thing that looks like a hat (but isn't) at the top center of the stick.

I'm a lefty and I just trained my stupid hand to fly using a 2-button stick before buying my first TM setup about 15 years ago. It only took about a week or 2.

I'm a lefty too, and the first stick i got was a birthday present: The old Logitech Wingman Extreme, a total righty stick.

And there was never a discussion about where the mouse had to be... my father probably would have killed me after a while, if i had put it to the left side of the keyboard all the time, and switched the buttons and so on. wink

BTT: The Logitech G940 is indeed a fantastic setup. FF + split throttle, i would never have thought, that this would be possible again.

Because the market showed nothing like that for a long time, i was given enough reasons to mod my own one:

The Suncom SFS Throttle is still to be modded to USB, but my setup can be combined in any way:

F-15E Talon + Pro Throttle + Pro Pedals
F-15E Talon + SFS Throttle + Pro Pedals (soon!)
CH Force FX + Pro Throttle + Pro Pedals
CH Force FX + SFS Throttle + Pro Pedals (soon!)

Building that up was a long way, and i am still not completely done. What my setup will have advantages in comparison to the G940, is that it is definitely more realistic than the G940, which is a kind of fantasy HOTAS. Therefore, there will be a lack of programmability for me (mine consists of the guts of a Wingman Strike Force 3D + BU0836), and the ability to trim with extra wheels. Hmmm, let's see, my BU still has a lot of axes over i could use for something... wink

I just wanted to show you that there ARE alternatives, but buying a plug'n play setup which can do everything from the start i had to work very hard for IS fascinating.

Well this is exactly what i'm looking for!, I've been an owner of the CH fighter stick, pro throttle and pedals for a number of years and found recently that my pedals are on the way out and nearly brought some off ebay but now im going to wait and totally get the new logitech hotas to replace my rig when it comes out. This should really be ace in black shark!

This looks a great stick. Just what I need to replace my X45 shortly.

However - I wish they did not have the pedals bundled - or at least that there was an option without. While I would like to replace my old X-45, I have no desire to junk my new Saitek pedals (which are great).

I hope that they make that an option, or no sale to me.

Logitech has indicated that the G940 will sell and ship as a unit - stick + throttle + pedals. Unfortunately you will have to purchase the pedals if you want the other stuff.

There's always ebay...

Regarding the pedals, what interface do they have?
Is it analog (with the A/D convertor in the stick) or digital?

The pedals connect to the Stick via a Gameport connector ! .... a la Cougar. From a Marketing point of view that stops independent sales of the pedals.
