Oh god. I really hope/wish they decide to split this up into individual parts. I really want that throttle. I'm not sure about the rest. Honestly, I really like the idea of having a good? force feedback joystick. But since I just bought a CH one a couple months ago, I can't hardly convince myself to replace it just yet. Same deal with the pedals. These pedals look pretty awesome and sturdy, but my CH ones work just fine.

I like my CH throttle, but I think I'd give it up for this one. Or, you know, use them both.

You can find a very detailed review of the G940 stuff here:

I just read the review over at M4T and got a little scared.
Can you confirm that the stick is not self centering?

EDIT: Just saw that it was confirmed to have self centering.

The stick has a self-centering routine in firmware, but it is over-ridden by simulation inputs. It just keeps the stick from laying around on its side when not in use. It also has the option of providing spring force in non- FF games. There is no permanent centering force.

I haven't checked this thread in a while, but...

-The hat switch at the top of the joystick is a fully-fledged analog ministick? Talk about deceiving appearance! I wonder if it clicks in like the microsticks on the Cougar throttle, the CH Pro Throttle, and of course, Dual Shocks and Xbox gamepads.

-It's still not out yet...then again, I'd rather not have a product rushed to market. (I've heard enough complaints about the Cougar as is, and even mine has an issue or two-mostly the microstick Y-axis not responding properly when pushed up.) Also, it gives me more time to save up the 300 US$ I'll need to get one. (I still don't think I'll have that much by September without selling my Cougar and RCS pedals, though...)

-The FFB handling in software doesn't surprise me at all, based on my experiences with the Strike Force 3D. I wonder how tight the deadzone on the centering spring force for non-FFB games would be, though, and also if you can set a force curve now to do things like, say, low centering force near the center, but much higher centering force as you reach the edges?

-Wait, did someone in here say they used a Strike Force 3D as a parts donor to mod a Suncom stick? How's the X/Y-axis response? Would the pots sharing a few wires impede the signal much or anything? If not, then a gimbal mod may be all I need to solve the X/Y-axis issues.

-Finally, what are the chances that we'll see the old WingMan Interceptor revisited? Keep the grip shape and layout as-is, just give it a lockable twist rudder, USB, and maybe add a scroll wheel on the base Strike Force 3D-style. (I want a G940 very badly, yes, but it just isn't very portable. I could cram an Interceptor-size stick into my backpack to take to university and back for game development purposes, though!)

The top hat is a fully analog mini stick, with a center press button, similar to a game pad mini stick.

The driver software lets you adjust overall strength, Spring effect strength and damping effect strength. IT also has a separate adjustment for spring centering in force feedback games and a check box to enable/disable centering spring in FFB games. We do not currently have any options to "curve" the force data - it is being left to the game designers. DCS: Black Shark has a number of adjustment options.

In terms of strength, are the force feedback motors similar to what is used in the Logitech G25?

Every force feedback joystick that has come out after the original gigantic Logitech Wingman Force (that had the steel cable pulley system), the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 and the AVB Pegasus has been extremely weak when it comes to actual force feedback strength.

Also, I have read that the Logitech G940 will show up as 3 separate controllers in the game controllers control panel applet. Is there a mechanism in place between the software and drivers where the three G940 devices could be combined to look like a single controller for older simulation games that had problems with multiple controllers? If not, is there any chance that would be considered to implement into the software and drivers?

Thanks for the responses, Logitech_Mark. It's much appreciated and quite rare these days for people to be so active in providing information on their soon to be released products despite it being a major plus for them to do so.

The motors in G940 are almost identical to G25 motors. Therea re obviously differences in gearing, etc. but the power is impressive.

The controller does show up as three different controls, through a clever driver. We took this route to support the most popular and current sims, and get past the axis and button limitations of Windows and some games. Some older sims without patches to support multiple controls will not be able to see the other controllers at launch, but we continue to look at improvements in software, etc.

G940 is not a build and forget product. We want to keep it current and will update software and features as needed or possible.
