Buff, thanks for answering Freycinet's questions.

According to the commentary given at Old Warden, the Dornier was used by the CIA in South East Asia because of it's (V)STOL characteristics. At the show the pilot managed to land it and bring it to a halt within about 50-60 metres. Very impressive stuff!

Great pics and great quality. The pic of the Sea Hurricane in the first group of pics looks like you took the pic from a plane flying alongside the Hurricane at altitude.

Curious142, thanks for your kind comments and glad you like them. The pilots at Old Warden always make a habit of banking towards the crowd which means you get nice 'top shots' like the Sea Hurricane.

Flat Eric the photos are great!!
I am going to be going to a few air shows across the summer and was wondering what kind of camera/lens you were using to get these photos?

mac22,
thanks - glad you like them.

They're taken with a Canon 400D (i.e. an old-ish entry level dSLR) and a 70-200mm Canon F4.0 L lens. The lens cost a lot more than the camera body (I think that's where you need to place the emphasis). Although Canon no longer make the 400D, you can still pick them up in the UK for circa. £270.

In truth the 70-200mm is a bit 'short' for airshows but when the planes get close enough it produces clear results.
