Oh lovely! Notice how the wing tips slightly when he applies gas to the rotary on the ground. Just like in the Camel-Spitfire movie, totally realistic! Also, there's a rush of wind when the rudder is depressed and the plane skids. There are some effects from the torque of the rotary engine. - And then, bird-song at the end... smile

Yes, the wind is a great queue for keeping turns coordinated.

Yeah, saw this yesterday afternoon - great piece of video! Judging by the wind and the shaking, I though he was going to relieve himself of his lower wing many times throughout that flight!

I love how the wind got louder as he crabed (cross-controlled) across the sky!

Great stuff!!

Now that is WWI flying!

Vladimir is an accomplished pilot in his own right, and the techniques he uses in the video must become yours too.

Bravo to him, and on his excellent video of flying the RoF N.17 (Duks).

Thanks for linking it guys!

What is simply done right is the sense of speed.

Terrific. Really nice. If that beautiful little machine is available for download at release time along with the SE-5, I'm buying then both!

Looks like a nice little aircraft to fly, I can see it being my introduction to ROF mount of choice, until my SE5 turns up anyway wink

One question, where's the gunsight?

I think that on N17s with the Vickers synchronised gun the sight is on the gun itself (like the German guns). However, N17s in RFC service usually had the Lewis gun mounted on top of the wing and these used a tube-style gunsight suspended amid the rigging above the cowling. I'm not sure if this had magnification too.

The Vickers installation was probably better, as it came with a 500 round ammo belt. The Lewis one needed frequent change of magazines (i think it was 90 rounds or so), which involved standing up in the pit to reach and then pull the gun down along the rails it was mounted on, then change the magazine and push it back up over the wing. It's way cooler looking however and if it gets modelled at some point, we might be able to use it to fire at an angle against the undersides of bombers. Schrage Musik WWI style biggrin

The roofrack mounted vickers would be very nice to have.

Yeah....when I think of the N17, It always has that Lewis up there. As a matter of fact, it almost doesn't look right, to me, without it.
