Gentlemen, first of all, hello!

I'm Col. Douglas P. King, Commanding Officer of the Hell's Devils Virtual outfit.

Before reaching the point, I want to make a little historical recall.


My virtual unit, the Hell's Devils, is inspired to the historical "special" and not officially numbered small unit that was called the 5th AF V Fighter Command HQ Flight.

Perhaps the most illustrious member of this selected group of men was the USAAF top scoring ace, Richard Ira Bong, who spent a quite long period with it (from May 1944 to December of the same year).
Another famous member of the V FC HQ was Col. Neal Kirby.
This unit was practically a "free lance" one, and had to report to Generals Kenney and Wurtsmith only.

If your virtual outfit is inspired by one of the historical one of the Squadrons or Groups of the historical 5th Air Force, may I invite you gentlemen to join the virtual 5th Air Force that is about to be created?
All virtual squadrons or groups that are inspired by historical units that were part of the real 5th Air Force are invited to be part of the virtual one.

The 5th Air Force (virtual) is planned to be an historical-reenacting virtual organization.
There are many virtual Groups/Squadrons around here that are historically related to historical, Real Life WW2 outfits that were part of the real 5th Air Force.
The virtual 5th Air Force purpose will be to give these Groups/Squadrons a place to call "Home", the opportunity to organize themselves in something bigger, benefitting them with a greather possibility of having fun in an even more mature and immersive way.

It is absolutely granted the independence of every virtual squadron/Group that will adhere to this project. A dedicated Community Forum has already been created, to provide all groups/squadrons a place to share experiences and to plan eventual joint operations. The 5th AF General HQ will be a convenient place where the Commanding Officers of every group or Squadron will discuss and plan an eventual common strategy and so on, all in a relaxed, democratic and gentlemanly way.

The final goal is to give birth to a strong and committed Community where all the involved will be able to find and give support to each other, thus achieving a high standard of proficiency and mature fun.

HOW IT SHALL WORK?

Very simple.

The 5th Air Force (virtual) will be open to all Groups/Squadrons that are historically related to a real, historical WW2 5th Air Force Group or Squadron.

Every Group/Squadron that will join the 5th AF WILL MAINTAIN ITS FULL INDEPENDENCE. No changes will affect their internal organization. This is very important and MUST be respected.
There will be a 5th AF Forum Board where every Group/Squadron CO and XO will represent their outfit, with the right to vote in a totally democratic way about every matter or decision to be made.

The 5th AF Forum Board will be a place to meet, plan, discuss, project eventhual joint
operations, training, participation in online campaigns, Wars and so on. All this -to be said once more- in a really democratic and fair way.

Every decision will be voted on, and nothing will be imposed. Nobody will be forced to
participate in an event if they don't want to.
All will be based on COMMON SENSE and a SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION, with only very few but necessary rules to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.

The advantages of being part of the 5th Air Force are obvious: All Groups/Squadrons will be able to fly online with confiable people, with everytime someone of a companion outfit to fly with.
The chance to share experiences, training procedures, participating in the Group or Squadron events of each other, having fun, adding to the immersion and making a lot of friends.
