"BTW, I don't know what's said to be wrong with SPAD takeoff. A few seconds on full throttle and it is up."

Well, at least that is encouraging. I was a bit worried that something like that would still exist in a problem in a beta...

Flew first campaign mission on D.VII (there were several Jastas to choose from). Starting date - summer 1918. It was an offensive patrol I guess... We went to Frog side, met some SPADs. No one killed anyone - they kept running away, we kept turning. So I kissed everyone good bye and flew home with a few dents in my engine and bent front struts. Crossed the frontline, looked around, brought up in-game map... found a river, a road and finally a railway that led me straight to the home base. I wish, map has some scale markings, though. At least a grid!

And landscape generated for campain mission is kinda.. bare. I mean, what would you expect flying at 500m over trenches on the French side in a single German plane with no one else around? I got nothing. Not even weak flak applause that comes with unmodded FE. frown

I think guys who'll get international release will be more lucky, 'cause what'll happen now is massive testing. wink BTW, game also comes with English pdf manual already.

Great stuff, Gr.Viper, thanks much for taking time away from the game to share!

Are there any other flyable aircraft beyond the Spad and DVII without further update/purchase?

Well, I'd still like to kick the tires, but yes, I'm hoping the wait will result in a better game overall.

That is not a silly thing, that's a feature: It will be so annoying and memorable to the user that he/she will want to buy the plane!

Great reports Viper, thx a million!

Glad to hear the take-off run of the SPAD doesn't resemble that of an overloaded B-17G on a high and hot airfield with sticky mud!

Whoa, this RoF thing is actually happening. Fantastic. I hope the launch is not bungled too badly. I guess a handful of Russians in Neoqb have some sleepless nights ahead of them!

I love that! - It speaks a lot for the realism of this sim, because that was a VERY common outcome of engagements.

I assume that this a a generated campaign rather than a scripted one?

cheers

Nope. I'm supposed to have bonus N.17 but can't fly it yet. Online shop isn't up.

BTW, buying a plane automatically gives you a "medal". Sort of license plate you can put up on that hangar desktop. They're cute. But I wish I could put up numbers of planes I shot down there instead. biggrin

My final exam at the university comes in a week. And I still have the paper to finish.

Well, in a sense... You chose plane, time and Jasta and get a set of some missions (10 in my case).

GV, how reliable has your on-line connection to the Neoqb server been?

Have you flown any MP missions yet?

There were no online servers there last time I checked, but hopefully people will put some up. The connection was fine apart from the need to disable firewall... must be some port config I should do.

GV, you probably need to port-forward (check readme).

Ming, we could turn his VOIP back on?

New Release versus Work for Exams. Fatal choice for the weak-willed like myself, especially when there's more than 24 hours remaining to the deadline. I used to think that releases were secretly coordinated to interfere with important things like exams and work deadlines, but now I'm sure they are wink

Anyway, best of luck with your choices and thanks again for sharing the info on the game.

Not a word about it there.

I've got a strange feeling that AI sees through clouds. I didn't expect to be tailed and shot at while flying in a cloud thick as milk.

Yeah, we were told earlier this would be the case, for a while at least. Something they apparently intend to change.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
FR, are you allowed to quote the manual on the port forwarding topic? I'd be curious why RoF needs incoming open.
