8:09 AM it's feeding time at the nest and the chicks are competing for mom's attention.

I was watching this morning when the chicks were all alone, and the camera pulled back to a long view, with the river on the right, and you could see this bird come swooping in. Sure enough, it was mama and a minute later she was feeding the little ones.

From Berlin, this lifecam from Mr. and Mrs. Kestrel's living room:

Take into account that it is German local time (GMT+1). The camera is switched off during darkness.

so in total we are watching like 2 falcon families maybe..?
that's not much frown i fear they will go extinct even though millions are watching just 2 frown

it's nice to watch them though.

i know people say falcons can somehow slowly adopt to city living or to humans but.. i still find it difficult to imagine falsons wheeling above a city and actually making a full life of it...

edit: cool thanks for the assurances guys.. ! now i can watch the videos without feeling so guilty..

I don't think that will be the case in NYC, those birds have got more support from the populus than Mayor Bloomberg.

Cities are actually pretty good environs for Peregrine Falcons. The building are akin to cliffs. Plenty of updrafts and thermals for the Falcons to take advantage of. Also, rodents and small birds and pigeons are plentiful.

Until we start to have flying cars, we really don't matter to the Falcon's day to day lives.

Neither peregrin falcons nor kestrels are currently threatened, say environmentalists. Both appear almost globally, and both populations are healthy. Thye adapt very flexibly to human-formed environments.
