I respectfully disagree with you EB. SimHQ is a known entity in simming. They should be one of the first sites that you post up info like this. Marketing is important for our genre and should not be left to the community to do. When information is available it should go up on the known big flight simming sites like here at SimHQ and be posted by the seller of the product as it shows an interest by the seller in the community they are posting in. These things were posted at Frugalsworld which has very low traffic in the Black Shark section. You don't have to guess the interest here as there are numerous posts daily on these boards. Frugals Black Shark board sometimes goes several days without a post. If we go by your way of marketing then the post should have been made here and then let the community at Frugals post it up so you can judge interest in the product there. You know there is interest here. Just a disagreement in marketing is all.

I think you're putting waaayyy too much faith in the strategy and planning of the folks over there at ED, Dusty.

My dollar bet is that they put out the WIP photos on their home forums and shortly after one of their guys was surfing Frugal's. He probably figured "while I'm here...." and posted them there.

It's not like the ED guys were offering any sort of endorsement of one site over another; heck, the fact that the development crew members pop by and post is a big up for us here.

Indeed, I'd hate to be the guy that has a list of sites they have to post the exact same thing to in order to make sure everyone is in the loop. And if they did that, some smarty would point it out and accuse them of spamming the flight sim community.

They're in a no win situation on that score.

While I'm definately wearing my SimHQ tshirt and drinking coffee from my SimHQ mug, I realize that we don't have a monopoly of information or even developer's attentions.

Dart, it has nothing to do with having a monopoly it has to do with marketing and just common sense. Acedy has done a great job over at Frugals, keeping people informed. It almost seems like the same people post updates at the same sites as if they are assigned a site. Acedy does a bang up job at Frugals. Whoever was "assigned" SimHQ either forgot or didn't feel it important or there is no assignment and ED dropped the ball here and the community picked up the slack. When you are trying to sell product, you don't drop the ball. Them posting it here would show the importance of the update, the importance of the site to sales, and an interest in SimHQ by ED, which I know they have, they just didn't show it this time. This is an important flight sim site and updates like that should be posted here by ED just as much as anywhere else. Again, a difference of opinion in marketing is all.

Acedy posted Black Shark news on Frugal's long before he became an ED forum moderator. I think it's just something he likes to do as a long-standing Frugal's forum member.

We don't feel it's necessary (maybe even inappropriate) for us to go around other forums to post our updates. That's what our own official website and forums are for.

SimHQ and ED have long had a mutually beneficial and productive relationship, which extends far beyond posting updates on the forum. However, various ED members do enjoy participating in various other flight sim forums, including of course SimHQ.
