This is good news. I think releasing the game in Russia only first will enable the devs to get some real feed back about how this sim will be received and give them a chance to go over any problems that surface and polish it up before taking the really big leap and releasing the English version.

They have to be absolutely certain the game will be well received by the Europe and NA combat flight sim community, so maybe this Russia release is kind of a super beta just to be sure the game is as good as it can be and ready for prime time. Also as someone pointed out they may just need more time and money to finish the game the way they want. If they are running short on funds releasing the game in Russia would give them a little cash they probably need.

LOL! How true, it was classic.

If you look at piracy trend of popular games, it is skyrockets when games do not have simultaneous release.

I don't mind a later "release for the rest of us." It will be interesting to see the reviews, if we can get the translated versions. I find it hard to believe that there is going to be a big enough market for it in Russia, which I would imagine can't come close to matching the number of paying game players found in the USA and other countries that are well off, but I guess they do think it's viable, so will be interesting to see the response.

What concerns me is if I can get a hard copy decorated boxed version with manual, maps, etc... paying for a dl version is not something that appeals to me as getting my money's worth, unless it is inexpensive ($10-$20). It's like the online e-books that cost almost as much as a paper back and you end up printing them at your own expense in paper and ink and time. So, I hope they actually do offer it as a distributed real game in a box.

I'd like a hard-copy version too if at all possible, but if not, a download version will have to do.

I expect all immediate/future add-ons will come via download from the Neoqb store.

For me the only disadvantage of a DL version vs a boxed copy is that you can't ever sell or trade the DL game. But I can live without all the clutter of dics and DVD cases and manuals. I have a ton of old PC games and manuals that just take up space. Some are old classics like Deus Ex, Quake 2, Thief 2, Baldurs Gate. But I would just as soon have the games available on something like Steam than me have to make room for them. I doubt that I will ever play most of them again anyway. I still play Red Baron 3D once in a while and as long as it is the best WW1 combat flight sim I'll stick with it. But I am not attached to having the manual and cd. I would be fine having the game available on a service like Steam. In fact looking around at all the game clutter around my PC I think I would prefer it!

I'm with Toadvine. Very little advantage to having a box, tin, and dvd. In the old days you could look forward to a great manual, but those have long ago given way to PDF manuals.

As long as I can easily download again in the event of a system crash, etc. Downloadable version is jake with me.

I've no clue of what Neoqb are up to but they should shine some light on the international version asap since leaving everyone else out in the dark just feel abit odd. An update this week regarding our version is what i *expect*.

Agreed. off topic but check out www.gog.com for the classic old games with DRM removed and cheap as chips.

I'm very much looking forward to getting rise of flight. Will be good! CD or downloaded.
