We have a rare opportunity to have the pilot of the aircraft help us design it. It's a lot better to post pictures here and bring him to them than to send them to him to be screened out as junk mail.
So, what you see is an SH-3 operating off the USS Hornet off the coast of Vietnam. We don't usually use the pilot's name but will ask permission before releasing the mission. But we don't mind saying that his helicopter was Big Mother and he flew her right into Haiphong Harbor to pick up a downed A-4 pilot in a rescue that was far beyond mere daring.
For the forum: This is our SH-3. We have a later version also but it's mission is not defined yet. Please ignore the unfinished animation at the end of the line. We are working on it.
For Steve:
1- Did it have NAVY on the sides? 69 on the sides or nose? Black? White? Unit patch?
2- Is this green too "yellow"?
3- Anything jump out at you as dead wrong? (Even though you said your pilot was in a Mae West to stay low, the real life problems of seeing a man bobbing in the ocean are bad enough for a rescue pilot. It's nearly impossible in Yankee Air Pirate. Thus, the smoke. Granted, that would have gotten you all killed but this is supposed to be fun...at least this time.)
No need to answer here. Just email me at that other address. And thanks.
