This may be an old question, but I recently re-installed WOV and patched it. I tried adding the F-101A/C and for some reason I can't find the weapons folder to put the external tanks and nukes in. Has the TW series changed so that adding weapons is now different? Where is the weapons folder? Any and all help appreciated.

Okay so I'm an idiot. I just realized I forgot to install the new weapons pack. I went and got the new Mirage Factory Weapons pack from 2008, and boom the weapons folder is now there.

Now my problem is the weapons editor. I can't seem to get it to work. I unzipped it to my desktop and when I double click on it nothing happens.

Wow....you leave the series for a while and you forget everything. I'm not sure what happened, but now none of my planes can load weapons.

I installed WOV, patched it, installed the weapons pack, and put in the F-101A and F-101C. That doesn't seem like a very serious chain of events for nothing to work all of a sudden. Anyone have a clue where I went wrong?

Delete the Weaponsdata.DAT file in your Weapons folder.

Fire up the Weapons Editor (making sure it's in Win9X compatibility mode) and open your Weaponsdata.INI file.

Re-save the Weaponsdata.INI file in the Weapons folder and it should generate a new Weaponsdata.DAT file.

Light up WOV to see if it all worked for you.

Sounds like good advice, but I can't get the weapons editor to open. I double click the icon and it nothing happens. What's the best place to download the weapons editor?

Is the Mirage Factory Weapons Pack from 2008 the latest one?

Right click on the icon, go to properties, compatibility, and change to win95.

I can't remember which one is the latest. I think the one that comes with this weps pack: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=8130

Doesn't seem to be working so I'm going to start over. Here's the list of steps I plan on taking. Someone please clarify if I'm missing something.

1. Clean install of WOV from the CD.
2. Download and install latest 2008 patch from Thirdwire (just one patch is require right....no service packs or anything else?
3. Download and install the latest (2009) weapons pack from the Mirage Factory.
4. Install the Voodoos.

Anything I'm missing? I feel like if I take exactly these steps in this order there is no reason everything shouldn't work.

You might have to place the wps editor in a different folder.

Well, I started over in the order that I listed above and everything seems to have worked. I didn't even have to change wepdata.dat file as suggested earlier. I'm not sure what it was I did that first time, but thus far the Voodoos and their weapons (as well as the weapons for other planes) seem to be working just fine.

Time to go nuke a MiG base. smile

One more question.......the new weapons editor seems to have left a WeaponEditor.ini file on my desktop. Can I delete it? Why is it there?

I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but is there seriously no one who knows the answer to my question? Is this board that dead now?

Not dead just deem the question not worthy of an answer. Either delete or don't.

Phantom,

Seriously man, just try deleting it (or at least just rename it to something else). Your computer won't blow up...I promise.

What's up with SNAPs these days... biggrin

My bad guys, I wasn't aware questions like that were a bad thing. Just didn't know if there was a reason it did that or not. Haven't played in a while so out of the loops. I'll think twice before asking questions in the future though.

Damn it Phantom, what is with you?

Did you notice that the initial questions were in fact answered and folks did try to help you out. So asking questions isn't a bad thing. However, sometimes people either don't feel like answering, or the question is one that hasn't been encountered, or they figure the best way to find out the answer is for you to try it yourself.

Hell, I figured as a go-gettin' 2Lt who has finished SUPT by this point, you'd be willing to try it out yourself. You've learned to fly real aircraft...a moddable PC game isn't a big deal. Instead you come on here and complain when no one answers a question you could have figured out in literally 30 seconds.

You act this way in a flying squadron (especially a fighter squadron) and they'll tear you up one side and down the other.

Oh relax. I was just trying to make sure that if I deleted the file it wouldn't mess something else up. I've been playing around with these games for years, and I hadn't encountered that particular issue before.

The only honest suggestion I got was to either delete it or don't.....I mean is that even worthy of taking your time to type out (or rather Stormtrooper's time?).

Relax dude.....I'm gone from this forum anyways so you need no worry about me wasting people's time with questions. (You'll just have to avoid me over at Combatace...don't worry I'll try and do the same.)

Take care gents.

P.S. Thanks for telling me how to act in my squadron. I'll remember to put that advice to good use tomrrow when I go in to work.....I've been wondering why nobody likes me. wink

Wow! With a handle like PhantomIIF4, I'd expect you'd have a wee bit thicker skin. Guess I'd better get my thinker fixed. eek
