I was wondering if anyone found out how to run SWAT 4 in widescreen resolutions, specifically at 1680x1050. The highest resolution I can select is 1280x1024, which works fine, every time I exit the game and then restart it, it defaults back to 1024x768.

I am running Vista 64 bit and a GTX 260.

Have you checked widescreengamingforum.com? If it can be played in widescreen they've usually figured it out.

You have to set the resolution manually it in the Swat4.ini file. Seems to work. biggrin

Can you please explain this in more detail? Where is the file located? I can not find such a file. The closest thing I can find is called Swat4.int. Even then, I am not sure where I should input my resolution.


Edit: I found the SWAT4x.ini in my expansion folder, but changing the resolution to 1680x1050 does not seem to do anything. Thanks for the reply though. At least it looks decent at 1280x1024.

To be very honest though, since upgrading to widescreen I have a hard time telling higher resolutions. You may be right, lol. I only did a quick check and it looked great so I figured, okay great. wink

"Both loading screens and the in-game HUD will stretch accordingly".

If that's an issue, you may want to use the 4:3 screen scaling feature of your Nvidia card instead.

Even today, this is one of the best-looking tactical shooters ever.

I really enjoyed playing the crap out of this game.

Apparently I did not change one of the lines to the resolution. That helped. thumbsup My only problem now is in the mission briefing, the tabs such as "equipment" and "entry" ect. are just black with no text. Its not much of a big deal, but do you get this problem?

This might fix my issue above. Is there a way to set it so that only SWAT 4 uses 4:3?

Me to. I am playing through the entire game again (probably my 5 time through). I have been using the SSF mod for a long time, and recommend it if you have not tried it yet. Adds some new maps (some are of poor quality though), a few new weapons, changes to the AI, and changes to bullet penetration and some other small things.
