Hello folks, just a quick update.

-------------------------------------
4/2/09, Hillsboro, OR, USA.

VRS RELEASES F/A-18E "SUPERBUG" SP2.

Vertical Reality Simulations, LLC (VRS) today released Service Pack 2 for their fly-by-wire F/A-18E Super Hornet simulation for FS2004 (FS9). Service Pack 2 adds a livery import/export and browsing function to the Aircraft Manager, additional liveries including RAAF, CAF Swiss air forces, volumetric lighting effects, programmable bullseye coordinates, and a host of other new features including some minor fixes. Current owners will receive this update automatically through their Aircraft Manager. For a complete list of changes, or to manually download SP2, please visit the VRS support website at http://www.vrsimulations.com/forums/phpBB3/

Originally released December, 22, 2008, the "Superbug" has been met with astonishing praise throughout the FS community for its high fidelity true fly-by-wire control- law-dependent CAS and flight modeling, unmatched avionics, built-in carrier operations, and fully integrated combat systems including firing weapons and anti-air-warfare (SAM/AA) simulation. A product showcase video is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNsiLBRe-sA

VRS is committed to maintaining and enhancing this product, and to the ongoing support of our customers. An FSX version is currently in the works.

This is without a doubt one of the best Add-ons for Flight Sim ever. Not to even mention the lighting fast service you get from Jon and the rest of the folks at vrsimultaions.com.

If you have a list of Must buys this has to be at the top if you like Military aircraft.

What is exactly the deal with the carrier? Is it not included in this package? I saw some jawdropping screenshots with the Enterprise but am slightly confused. Do you need an additional aircraft carrier purchase to bring the best out of this package?

Thanks

Hello Ejecto,

FS9, unlike FSX acceleration, doesn't provide carrier operations with working catapults and arresters out of the box. We provide that "mechanism" as part of our package, and that allows you to define these catapult and arrester "zones" which can be placed anywhere in the world.

We don't prove the actual scenery (ie. static carriers). There are a ton of great freeware carriers available and once the zones are defined at the locations where those carriers are installed, the aircraft can use them for operations via our built-in mechanisms.

Making sense?
P.S.
Thanks Joker & Stormtrooper:)

This is at the top of my list for Must Buy for FSX when it is released. If you ever want a Boeing engineer with flight test experience to beta test it for you let me know! wink

Thanks a lot! An answer straight from the horse's mouth (oi, that doesn't look good when written down).
I must say I was heavily impressed by the movies and shots from Superbug. I think I saw it in action on the carrier from Alphasim and it was like... real?!
I think the aircraft is superbly done and this is now seriously on my wishlist. And there musy have been some funky programming/tweaking involved to get FS to jump through this hoop!

I assume there is some sort of editor to define these arrestor and catapult zones?

So bring on the dynamic campaign/moving deck crew/ and the ability to have dinner in the mess :-))

As I said, on my shopping list.

Ejecto

Ejecto - Yes, there is a editor for creating the trap and cat zones (very much like 3rd wire).

This really is one great FS add on, it's the only reason that FS9 is still on my system to be honest. Looking forward to the FSX Pro version as to add the moving deck option and some other options (this is speculation based on the current manual that refers to options that will be in the Pro version).

And so I ended up buying this after another fascinated YouTube video round.
And I bought the Enterprise from Aplhasim. And I have to bump this thread. Why?
This add-on deserves far more exposure. I have long thought that Realair defined the ultimate add-ons. Have their 260 and spitfire and still love them. But this Superbug is indeed a bug, you catch it. What a superb addon. Whether it is taking off, trying to fire the whole beast into life, trying to land, this is one of those remarkable products where it all fits meticulously together.
Obsessive in detail, gorgeous in looks, amazing in flight.
To the team: a deep bow and you so deserve my bucks.
Thanks for the enjoyment you bring. Although this learning curve is STEEP!

I too enjoyed (and still do) the RealAir products but agree, this is in a league of it's own when it comes to add-ons' (military that is).

VRS spent years of effort with this one, and it shows.
