i was just watching this video done by BBC's Top Gear. They painted anti-bush, anti-bible and anti-country music slogans on their car and tried to drive through Alabama from border to border.

They were pounced on by rednecks in cars/trucks/semis and chased down. Had rocks thrown at them etc They barely made it out.

Topgear did a somewhat silly thing. You know people there live their life like that, so why go out of yoru way to provoke them?

lol. Pick any random small town in the south and you'll find no shortage of backwards redneck types.

Um, in the USA, my friend, in the USA.

I've been to plenty of hick towns with rednecks in both Washington State and upstate New York.

I'll bet most of the stuff was either very carefully planned by route or just simply carefully planned.

Also, I love the "run for the border" comment. Dudes, that's Mississippi.

It's a good thing they didn't do that driving across Texas- they would have been lynched, shot, drawn and quartered, and then arrested.

This is totally idiotic. Paint hate speech stuff on a car and drive through an area that believes in it and you are going to catch hell.

Paint anti Obama and anti bible stuff on a car and drive it through Chicago and see what happens. Would that make Chicago a redneck town?

The camera quite conveniently either looks the other way or goes out of order as soon as the 'violent' response from the rednecks starts. Besides, didn't anybody else smell a big cliché when those sleeveless shirts and mullets-wearing 'boys' showed up stacked up at the back of that pickup truck ?
You hear rocks impacting the cars, but you don't actually see a single one. The slogan the gas station owner seems to be taking offence at the most is the one about country music !? I'd have thought the Hillary and Gay slogans would have attracted more attention. This would indicate this woman was a country music lover but not a hardline republican homophobe. How does that make her a backwards redneck ?

'I'm gonna get the boys' P-lease, that sounded like the Good Ole Boys chase scene from Blues Brothers...
I would have also though driving around past the speed limit - as the footage was edited to show - with painted over headlights and provocative slogans would have got them arrested, or at least the cops would have showed up after they stirred up so much trouble.

Even if this is legit, the slogans they picked were a bit weak IMO. "NASCAR sucks ?" Is this really the best they could come up with ? I mean if the aim was to be really provocative, I'd have expected George Bush and Jesus to be mentionned by name...

They came to the U. S. of A. and did a show where they were each given $1000 and had to come up with the best car/truck they could buy for that, and do a lap or two on a track?
