Some of you may know Tacview which allows you to analyze missions from Lock-On, DCS or Falcon 4. It will record data during the mission and then afterwards let you do all sorts of interesting analyzis and playback of what happened from every viewpoint imaginable.

I'm currently enabling EECH to generate the logs Tacview uses and exporting the maps, so that Tacview can be used with EECH too.

Here is some screenshots of what Tacview allows me to analyze after a quick skirmish in EECH. This is the basic interface of tacview. Detailed data for two units at a time in the upper left corner, a list of events below it, a main 3D view which can be viewed from any angle, and various options for controlling the playback and what is displayed in the 3D view below.

Here is a simple engangement between two OH-58s and two Mi-17s. In the 3D view units can be marked by labels, and have tails showing their trajectory.

Here is a zoomed out view, showing the entire Northern coast of Taiwan (looking south). The red and blue spheres are missile ranges. That gives you some idea of how much area is visible, the red spheres are around 15 km in diameter.

Here is a rocket artillery attack without labels:

Another way of viewing the world is this simplistic HUD-view:

And yet another is the satelite view. This is the most zoomed out level, but it can be zoomed in however much you like:

Hopefully this should be a great tool for debriefing and analyzing what really happened during the mission smile Particulary since EECH doesn't have any other recording/playback functionallity.

Go to the Tacview homepage for more information about Tacview.

If there is ever an invention that lets blokes have babies, I'd like Arneh to be the father of mine biggrin

One of the things Tacview allows is to use either game maps, or real world maps. So one interesting thing to do is to compare them and see how close (or not) EECH's terrain is to the real terrain.

When doing that it seems fairly clear that EECH has used less sampling points for its terrain, it does miss many of the smaller details. But all the big features, big mountains and coastlines etc does seem to match up fairly well.

Also note that the real world data isn't perfect either. It has many holes, particulary in the mountains where height data is just missing. And also it gives the impression of there being lots of ponds close to the coast lines, where non exist in real life.

Here are some screenshots comparing EECH to the real world.
One of the EEAH maps, Cuba. Guantanamo Bay is in the top left:

And this is how it looks from real satelite data:

Another EEAH map, this river valley in Thailand has been host to many of my most memorable EECH missions smile

Nice to see it's a real valley there:

For EECH Razorwork said they increased the map resolution, so these maps may show some more detail. Here's Northern Taiwan:

And the real Taiwan (with lots of holes in the map data on the right):

EECH Yemen:

Real Yemen:

And here is one custom EECH map, Puerto Rico:

Real Puerto Rico:

So what do you think about EECH's terrain modeling? smile

It is not bad, do you think it can render higher resolutions too?, maybe we can create even more detailed sceneries in the future.

Probably hardware nowadays can handle more detailed terrain.
If you look at the one custom map here (Puerto Rico) you can see that it's much closer to the real terrain than the default ones.

I'm not currently playing EECH, but I just have to express my admiration and appreciation for the life you have breathed into it Arneh. Thanks.
