The official IL-2 videos and .ntrk edits were amateur by even my standards.

Dart,
I liked your movies. I have to agree with you about the IL2 movies. Those movies make our movies look that much better so I shouldn’t complain. I am looking forward to seeing the Cato or Lotham of ROF emerge. I definitely would like movies submitted during the beta testing. I never participated in a beta testing so I would like an inside look into the process.

The larger question - and one I don't recall seeing answered - is if there will be a replay function like the .ntrk file.

Without one, film making is going to be very rudimentary.

Dart I would hope and assume that that a track file is recorded, the big thing is whether it offers greater control than say IL2 does.

Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say YES, I suspect that an .ntrk (or similar) will be saved.

How can I make such a claim?

Well go look at the ROF dogfight video at -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdecOfipAiE

And you'll notice the guns firing when hes not even watching in front of him, this indicates to be it was a prerecorded ntrk and he is just in it along for the ride with free-cam on.

Am i totally off base here?

Hadn't noticed that but it sounds good to me yes, you mean he/she's made a track of a track like the function that Il-2 has

Think a lot of movie makers would be looking to have the ability to record the track, replay with full control (ie. forward, rewind, pause, play, stop) and also being able to have freedom of movement with the camera(s).

Sort of like what you can do with FSrecorder for MFS (which also allows the changing of aircraft, time of day, and also weather - in this case it's not actually using the FM for the a/c movement but just the recorded path so you technically replace a helicopter with fixed wing and it will do some crazy flying).

I'm sorry, but that looks ridiculous and a direction toward arcade players.. maybe they are just trying to show a unrestricted number of planes in the air and how the game engine can avoid collisions, not at all realistic or historical though.
