Ralf has begun to activate some random encounter code that was previously disabled.
It only applies to offline single missions, but it has the potential to add even more fun to EAW.
The screenie comes from a groundstarted BoB sweep from Hawkinge to St Omer. It takes you right over the Wissant, Caffiers, Marquise airfields area, and as a result enemy aircraft scrambled from some of these bases. They can be caught taking off.

There is more to be done yet, but it is looking promising at this stage smile

Hi Spitty,

the oposite is already true. Simply choose your own base as target, select low level, wait some sec, then you get attacked while take off.

This is already possible since some years(scramble missions).

Greetings,

Knegel

Not really- although it happens in campaigns. The way it is working at the moment is that if you fly within a certain (short) range of a base then it triggers a scramble.
What I did find in more tests today is that the a ground start followed be alt-N after take-off took me beyond the coastal bases, but they spawned planes and I had enemies behind me.

Yep Jel...

Way back in 2002 I was able to break from an escort flight
and deviate to an enemy airfield in France, and strafe the
sh...t out the of buggers trying to take off....Don't know how
this was built into the ai?? but I always managed to nail at least
6-10 hopefuls plus a squirt at the contol tower and not be pursued
back over the coast....

the wonders of the EAW code...

Hello,

i guess you strafed a landing group there, cause groundstarted offline AI´s was not existing for now, others than the own squad wingis.

Even random encounters was extremely seldom.
