Thanks re Aces. Is the stripped Fokker a known Ace. Is it Neckel? Jasta 6?

Looks like we may be getting more then we envisaged? And if known Ace skins are in the game, should be part of the campaigns?

BB, aces & not-so aces. wink

The all-striped Fokker D.VII is that of Hans Kirschstein of Jasta 6.

(Neckel's Fokker D.VII didn't have the striped wings, struts, or landing gear)

That's right, but this particular Fokker was an Albatros.......

*tumbleweed comes drifting by

....sorry, I'll get me coat.

Can't help but think of that tired old joke when ever I see the word Fokker smile

Hugo Schäfer of Jasta 15 dives away.

Rudolph Berthold climbs up and away.

Those are some righteous screenies: They look like paintings!

Interesting to (again) see the correct physical implementation of a wing being ripped off: namely the remaining two wings on the other side providing more lift than the one wing left, so the plane rolls quickly into the damaged side.

I guess the wing departed because of a lucky bullet hitting a girder or longeron or wire... Shouldn't happen too often, but of course it will occur. I hope Neoqb gets the percentage right, i.e. in a more or less realistic bracket. If they have done away with hit bubbles, and physically model the exact impact points (even though they are not reflected in the visual damage model) then of course it should be close to realistic. I.e. a hit to a girder will crack it in 40 percent of the cases or so. Or, will weaken it so it wont stand up to a later brusque maneuver.

First time we see a two-seater in flight, but I never doubted we would have a few in the release, AI only of course. And then we can just hope that the sim will be such a success that we will have further development. It is up to the customers!

Re: the ground textures, Neoqb has implemented three-D grass when you are low enough. Maybe the graphics settings for this particular movie were not set to the highest viewing distance? - If you use fraps to capture movies in HD you canīt always run at highest settings. Well, who knows? - Oh yes, the developers. As long as there is a growth potential for the 3D grass (sic) with a view to future faster computers then that should be good.

Only sour note: I donīt think they got the river banks really well. It is super to see sun glint reflections in the rivers further off, but the river banks straight below look rather cartoonish. No connection with the surrounding landscape. Banks need all the help they can get these days, it also goes for RoF.

BTW, in the screenie of the Br.14 breaking up, as seen from the cockpit, why oh why must the glass be tinted so dark? I am convinced it wasnīt so in real life, please tone it down.

I certainly don't mind at all Freycinet! Smile2

Here's another one you might consider too, it's a cropped version of one of the blog pics, that highlights the excellent 3D modeling and texturing displayed on the Spad XIII:

(and check out the perforations on that exhaust pipe tip) thumbsup

Btw, thank you mmitch 10 for giving us a prompt heads-up on this new RoF update!

What do you guys think of the river banks? - I mean, in my opinion it shouldn't look like this (see image). Rivers ending like that... - They should rather peter out into the shape of the little brook they flow from. It unfortunately looks a bit Il-2 cartoonish, unlike the rest of the stuff in the image.

Well,I believe that everybody here take a good look at that gigantic furball.
Cristal ball is predicting to me VERY short life expectancy in campaigns...
There is no way to survive too long in a dogfight like that, you need huge doses of skill and a lot of luck.
But you know, luck ends...
