Landing a beast like the 135 takes practice. Its not a fighter. Its heavy and not very forgiving.

Your about 4.0 miles out. 200 knots. Get your lights on and gear down. You will feel the reduction in speed.

If she starts to drift, dont horse it over. Gentle but firm corrections.

Keep her in the range or 160-170knots. Activate flaps. You will feel her rise up and speed starts to drop rapidly. Throttles up. I see they paid the light bill this month.

Do not let your airspeed drop below 150 knots or your going to plow the field for the sleeping farmers you just flew over. Flare her in, nice and easy. Dont slam her down.
She doesnt like it.

She needs a lot of real estate. Once you touchdown, hit the brakes and Thrust Reversers and go full throttle. She will stop in half the distance.

Shut down the thrust reversers, back off the throttle. Taxi, go find the dude with the wands.

Watch out for those matchbox trucks.

There he is. Now slow, you bang into something around here, it could ruin everbody's night.

Made it in one piece.

This is the only mission where we did not need a Sundowner paint job.

Good landing, but if you listen to the tower's instructions they tell you 18 is the active. So if you want to do it right you should circle to land.

How do you turn on the cockpit lights? I can't find that listed in the controls menu.

They come on automatically at dark. The stock setting it too low. I've got 3 test machines going and the Pit light fix must have missed the cut. My fault.

In the cockpitdataini change the entries so marked with: <<<<<

Declare an emergency. Then you can land on either runway. Quit the mission before you have to start filling out paperwork.

We'll have to shut one down and do the "dreaded" three engine approach.

Did you guys slip a crosswind in here? The tower calls them right down the pipe but I find myself drifting quite a bit in the flare.

No crosswind. The flight model seems to lack some reality in the yaw axis. I think it's not made for heavies...although I really like the KC-135 FM otherwise. It seems to wallow a lot more than a real transport. No last minute lumcevaks to impress the pax. You have to plan the approach. The A6 is the same way on carrier landings.
