Thanks, for your polite answer ,zerocinco.I like it very much.
Will change the INI like Eric said to have the option to do it like real life pilots maybe had, even if I will not use it, if possible.

Zerocinco;
Were the tanks locked on the aircraft(IRL)? I mean, did you actually have the option available to get rid of them if you had to? Or was it that since you probably used that fuel first, getting rid of that weight, that keeping them mounted didn't make any appreciable difference in performance? If it did make a difference, isn't a pilot's life worth more than a couple of drop tanks OR even the aircraft?

I just got my copy of YAP2. Very impressive indeed, but I too was puzzled by the drop tank behaviour in that when I drop the tanks I got the confirmation but visually they were still on the plane. I was flying a F-105 btw.

I actually emailed the YAP2 crew on this to find out it was a bug or...

Now having found this thread I understand that it has been coded on certain mission not to release. I applaud the realism these missions bring to live. My only concern with this approach is that, although I guess no attachments to the airplane should be dropped without thinking about the real life consequences (for more immersion), the option to do so is still necessary. What if I habe heavy battle damage and trying to nurse the plane home. Would pilots not clean it off getting rid of all unnecessary drag? In this case we wouldn't have the option to do so, costing the plane rather than a couple of tanks and pylons..

I did see there is a way to renable this.. so it is not a big deal. I was just merely thinking out loud.

Just my 5 cents.

Thanks,
G

Got plenty of a accounts of F-4s dropping tanks over Vietnam for various reasons:

Maj Stan Picket is quoted as saying:

"The Centreline tank was jettisoned before firing AIM-7's but we generally cleaned off all tanks before a MiG engagement."

I suppose 05 is coming from the point that YAP recreates mostly Mud mover missions - where they may have had restrictions to only jettison tanks if they were screwed.
