I managed to snag this baby from Aimsurplus for $800. (no longer sold there)

Nice link that talks about various versions of PSL.

Everything in the picture comes with it.

Two scopes; top one is sold with rifle.

And this is what it looks like.

Other scope

In few days, I'll take this baby to a range and find out how well she shoots.

I'm looking forward to your range report.

It's always fun shooting a new rifle. Even if they're not very good, it's still fun learning their quirks. It adds to the depth of knowledge and experience so that even with an unfamiliar weapon you can work it.

let us know if the glass has that yellow tint or it's just in the photos.

Wow, I've seen those scope sights many times in Stalker and Armed Assault!

What are the differences between the Romanian clone and the Dragunov?

I have always wanted to get my mitts in a PSL, and I can't with hubby out of work. Fingered one at the gun show last weekend, tho. With the PSO sight on it, very neat.

The main difference is that the PSL is built on an RPK receiver, while the Dragunov's receiver is purpose built for the 7.62x54R round but resembles the AK's. The stock is different as well.

Finally, I took my toy to a range.

I zeroed in at 50 yards. One scope couldn't be zeroed in due unavailability of required tools. But scope that was sold with a rifle worked just fine.

There were three major problems that popped up; weapon was not cleaned before shooting, use of surplus ammunition and unfavorable weather full of gusts.

This is what target looks like from a scope.

That view is from 120-150 yards away.

Now due to use of surplus ammo and not cleaning, it made my grouping 'urinating' poor. Also random gusts of wing really messed everything up. Also since I never had experience shooting scoped rifle, my marksmanship was lacking. But as time went on and I controlled breathing and trigger control, my grouping shrank. I can assume that with everything right, I will be able to accurately and consistently hit credit card size target at that range.

I found piece of metal laying around and placed a nice size dent on it.

Cleaning it during sunset was nice and 'romantic' biggrin De-assembly is very similar to SKS and AK. Quick and easy to clean.

Shooting PSL is fun! It's not a sniper rifle - that's for sure. But as a squad support to lay fairly accurate fire, it does job very well.

Nice pics! I need to get back out to the rifle range again - it's been months since I've been, and in the meanwhile I got a new shotgun that's been occupying my shooting time. biggrin
