There seems to be a lot of missions in WOV. How do I identify which ones are YAP2 missions? Is YAP2 the "campaign" mode? What about Instant Action or Single Mission? If YAP2 came with ten missions, which ones are they?

I'm just trying to figure when I'm playing regular WOV (albeit with improved graphics) and when I'm playing YAP2. Or is YAP2 to WOV like "Firepower" is to CFS3? You still have the CFS3 missions but Firepower adds new ones and improves the graphics ane special effects for everything. Is that how YAP2 operates? What if I purchase a mission? Will the new missions be under Instant Action, Single Mission, or Campaign?

YAP does not support Campaigns or Instant Action or Create Mission. These are features of Wings Over Vietnam. YAP tells specific stories. Those stories are combat missions and each one is briefed. You will/have receive(d) a username and password to the Member's Section of the website. Just click on a mission, read (and download) the briefing, check the target photo and look at the map. Then go fly it.

What would be really nice would be a printable 'log-book' of all the missions to guide us newbies through it.
Most of the material is there already, although presumably there would be copyright issues if bundled into a PDF or similar.
Personally I would be quite happy to strip out all the non-YAP components (missions etc).
I think there are a number of YAP1 missions included - but I've read elsewhere that they shouldn't work?

Zerocinco - I've a few ideas for a launch tool to tweak WOV/YAP, brief missions and possibly integrate to the web-site. Would you be interested/object?

Cheers,
Keith

What did you have in mind for a logbook? You mean like After Action Reports? Or Briefings? Too much definition of our missions runs counter to the idea and programming of Wings Over Vietnam. We do not choreograph every event. We set up the key situatios in the story and let your skill and luck get you through it. We rely upon the variables to keep each mission different every time.

YAP2 is made from YAP1. Many of the stories are the same. After all, this is history so there are only so many ways to tell the same real story. Some of the old missions will work and some will not. Some of WOV's missions will work and some will not. If you look at them as an event to experience, you will gain the most from it.

As far as a launch tool idea, we are interested in something simple. As far as modifying our product and distributing it, we could not allow it.

Hi
the briefings would be just enough so I knew what was going on and where I was going and what to do when I got there Smile2
I was thinking of the old 'lineup' forms (BNH-16 ?), expanded a little.
Maybe the briefings you have already are enough.
I just like something printed out that I can work through.

I was thinking of an add-on program that linked to your web-site, allowed selection of a mission and started up WOV to fly it. Thought I had some code to do that, but its not working on WOV right now.
Would not repackage any of your stuff.

Cheers,
Keith

TK could do it in about 5-minutes if he hasn't already. Right now, we instruct how to PAUSE and ALT-TAB, go to the briefing and get back into the game. Download the briefings from the website and save them. We have them there to cut down on the bulk somewhat but also to put them adjacent to the actual targets on Google Earth. Being able to see the area as you would approach it then see how we have recreated it adds to the game, we think.
