If you haven't seen it, see it.

And bring some extra Kleenex, you'll need it.

Outstanding.

looks like the movie. pretty highly rated but only 69 votes :-
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1019454/

But Kevin Bacon is an excellent actor for this type of role (war movie about returning soldiers to their community).

For your eyes.

Your eyes.

Kevin Bacon does a wonderful job in what basically is a one man performance. The extent that people go to do honor and respect to the fallen is incredible.

my father in law was just saying last night how good this movie is. It's on HBO right, we're hoping it will be on HBO in demand so I can see it.

My wife came in and said "you have to watch this movie!" and laid down two Kleenex.

I used them both. The ending just was...well I won't spoil it, but this is a real life deal.

No worries here. Was just picking.

Excellent excellent movie though. I have already watched it twice. This one should get a couple of Emmy's this year.

I tell you, he sure looks and acts the part. Bravo performance.

Here's a good one. He gets upgraded to first class on the aircraft carrying Chance. Guy next to him orders a drink, Kevin orders water. Guy says "So what, are you on duty?" Kevin says "Yes, I am."

The part that surprised me was when he decided to spend the night in the hangar with Chance's body.

Another part surprised me more.

Yeah I hear ya Tom.

I actually subscribed to HBO just to see it last night.

Well worth it too!

Very very moving.

Our Men and Women in the Armed Forces are indeed Heroes of the Highest Order.

This movie has inspired me immensely.

I don't want to turn this into a thread of spoilers, but just one more:

Click to reveal..
The part where Kevin is following the hearse and the semi truck starts to pass and sees the Marine and the flag draped coffin in the vehicle ahead. He puts on his lights and before you know it, there's a procession of vehicles all with their lights on. Man, that got me.

The one that got me the most was when Kevin Bacon was talking to the old vet and saying what he was doing wasn't important and he should be over there. The old vet looked at him and told him that he was Chances witness and that Chance would still be around as long as he was. The other one that really got to me was when he went to look at Chance's uniform to make sure he was squared away and was totally impressed at how good of a job they did and the care they put into it

I was just going to write one thing that got to me and as I started typing, I thought of another. I realized then that these aren't the only things that got to me. There was so much throughout the movie. The whole thing was hugely emotional for me. This ranks up there with the scene at the end of Saving Private Ryan when he asked his wife if he was a good man. Taking Chance is a whole long whirlwind of emotions.

What makes you say that? A lot of stuff from HBO has won Emmy's before. HBO has a great reputation now for quality shows and movies.

Sometimes a movie "connects" with you and other times it doesn't.

I can't explain it, nor do I care to dissect it. It just is.

This one hit me in the heart and I'd gladly watch it again right now.

I agree 20mm i think its one of the best Movies i have seen in a long time. Very heart wrenching, Like i said in the other thread I cried throughout the whole thing.

Panzer I think it wont because of Hollywood they wont recognize this film because it isnt a liberal piece about how bad our military is.

I think all that Taking Chance would need to push it into the highest echoloens would be a masterpiece of music.

Like Hymn to the Fallen.

My wife just came in and asked me why I was crying.

Dammit it I hate when that happens. But it just is, I make no excuses, it doesn't impugn my manhood.

There's stuff in this world is worth fighting for.

And God Love those who are willing to do and die.

I salute you, one and and all.

I've watched it two weeks ago. Watched it the evening after I visited my old battalion to pay my respects to the young soldier killed in Afghanistan a week earlier.

Loved the movie. And had to swallow hard and blink quickly during some scenes.

Just a heads up to anyone who hasn't seen it or wants to watch it again. It's on HBO tonight at 8:30 EST.

A very appropriate movie to show on Veteran's Day.
