Good to hear it's still around. The owners of TrackIR2 didn't really get good support from Natural Point. First there was no 64bit drivers... but a workaround was found by the community. Now, no proper support for Black Shark... again a workaround was found by the community. Looks to me like someone is doing the job that the company of the product should do when it comes to TrackIR2.

I would like to have a TrackIR4, but I have some mixed feelings about putting the money down for a new unit. If the support for TrackIR2 would have been better I probably would have bought a new model by now, and then my old one could be used fully functional by a second hand buyer or a friend having it as a gift. That would have been beneficial for all involved, including NP.

Porphy thanks for the info! it appears that this fix will allow me to use my TIR1 with BS. My question is this, do I need any other software to make this work? or simply use the DCSFreeTrackEnFix, slap a reflective dot on my head and fly?

Are you using the free track software or the Track IR software?

Thanks!

Yeah, I'd love to buy a TrackIR4 for the 6DOF, but I keep hesitating because I'm worried they'll release Version 5 and drop the 3 - 4 support. So, I keep waiting on V5.

Rise of Flight and Storm of War may be the clincher, though, haha.

Hi

Yes, it is as simple as that! I use the TrackIR2 unit. Simply follow the instructions for the TrackIR fix, that is replace the file within BS, and fire up the normal trackIr software, then BS. Everything works as normal with the trackIR2 at least.

Are you using Vista or Windows 7 by any chance? I can't find drivers for trackir 1 for use with vista/7...

Yes, at the moment I run Windows 7 64bit. To run TrackIR 2 on a 64bit system you need to do two installations. I don't know if that would work with the TrackIR 1 though. But you can always try. I followed the instructions below:

1) Install TrackIR 4 software (I used 4.1.029 beta 4) this package comes with a working TrackIR 2 driver for Windows X64, the TrackIR 4 software will however not work with the TrackIR 2.

2) Install TrackIR 3 software (I used 3.13) this package comes with a driver we will not use, but the application will run with the driver provided in the TrackIR 4 package.

3) Start the application that came with the 3.x software load your profile and play a game!

Yes, at the moment I run Windows 7 64bit.

Amazing! I will try and report if I succeed as you have!

Update: Following the directions above I have got trackir 1 working in Windows7. smile Unfortunately even after applying the DCSFreeTrackEnFix I cannot get tir to work in BS... is there a key command or setting to enable it in game?

Not that I know about. It should run just as normal when you start BS. I did nothing more than applying the fix, and my TrackIR 2 worked flawless. You could try and see if it works in mouse emulation mode. Not as good of course, but better than not being able to look around at all.

Thanks for all the help Porphy! Tir1 does work with DCS BS in Windows7 64bit, but only in mouse emulation mode and I need to go through the F8 hoops to manually disable "digital driver enforcement", good for the current session only. Like you say better than nothing. Hmm I wonder if I even need to use the tirfix for this... will check on that later. Thanks again!

No problem at all Lobo. Yes, as you say, I also think the emulation mode will work without the tirfix. To bad you couldn't get it to work properly, but at least it's up and running with the OS you have and these tricks might be good to have up the sleeve for future "situations". yep
