You see I just don't see your point here.

ED have stated many times that all DCS modules will be ops manual correct, or as correct as they can make it. I'm sure you know this so why ask for something that's outside the philosophy of the series. With well made missions gameplay seems to be fine as it is.

For the record I'm not really into button pushing, I still find plenty to like about DCS Black Shark though. I just don't find the basic systems that complicated, I've never done a full Ka50 start up and I'm very unlikely to do so, that doesn't mean that I'd prefer ED to not include it as an option.

I'm not sure that arcade mode is that big a draw to casual gamers, arcade gameplay fans are better served by Op Flash or the Battlefield series imo. Although if ED have evidence that it shifts more copies then I'm fine with it being included.

If someone doesn't like operating all the avionics etc, and the FM is too hard, there are options to change those. If you want more fine grained options, it is possible that ED will oblige at some point.

As mentioned the startup is already automated, and weapon delivery is reasonably simple (not a whole more steps in BS than there are in LO when flying the 25T). You DO have to mind your launch parameters, like the real guys do.

I'm not into button-pushing myself, but that doesn't mean I mind it; it's simply not a 'turn on', but a 'nice to have' for me. Complexity? Go for it - that's what the whole deal is.

Playability? It's a simulator. The 'playability' is in the simulation. If you don't like it you can stick with Lock On, the 'wings over' series, and a whole number of other light sims.

It looks really impressive!

When I first heard of what the A-10C could do I nearly fell out of my seat. It is a BEAST now.

I havnt flown fixed wing seriously since Janes F15 apart from a little IL2 stuff. Its been mostly blowing up the dust with heli sims ive enjoyed the most, but I have to say im really looking forward to taking on the A10 warthog in its simualtion mode.

The best advice I could give to anybody that is daunted by sim complexity is to take the time to learn ramp start. With DCS Blackshark I found that once learning the ramp start i could identify which systems carried out certain functions. The benefit of this is that I didnt have to remember a lot of key strokes. Each area was broken up into smaller sections of 6-10 buttons, not to disimilar to driving a car. Take a look at the dashboard in your car next time you hop on board. Theres a bunch of levers and buttons with 50+ functions which we take for granted. The stereo system in my new car reminds me of the KA50 ABRIS wink

One question I do have for somebody in the know.

Is DCS A10 planned to be an add on for DCS Blackshark? or a standalone game? likewise with the Apache if its on the production list. Will it offer a Red vs Blue heli in multiplay? or will the Apache be a standalone sim?

It would be great in multiplay being able to call in the A10's when required smile

@Colonel_Kurz: As stated before in this thread, all DCS modules are supposed to work together online but can also be used as a stand-alone product.

I'd kill for a functional cockpit in the Cobra.

I wonder if something like this would ever be a possiblity for ED. I do't think the Cobra has the most advanced avionics (relatively speaking). It seems pretty easy to get reference material as well since the helo itself is not really that secretive.

I guess I just like the simplicity of the Cobra. It's a no nononsense, mean looking helo. I would EASILY pay for a Cobra add-on, in fact, I know of quite a few people personally that would also pay for one. I guess I can dream. smile

In the meantime, is there any way to fly the cobra in-game now like we could with the other aircraft in Lock-On?

This is perhaps the only fixed-wing sim that I'm really interested in flying now. That dedicated A2G environment is what really interests me. I suspect that I may be overwhelmed with all the avionics as I was in Falcon, but I don't really care. I think I'm going to really look forward to learning how to navigate better and all the rest.

Look at that EGI. Wow. Incredible. Can't wait. Cool thing is, once you learn the EGI you can use that knowledge with the AH-64, assuming they model the A with the same EGI. Time will tell.

Wow! That looks incredible!

If they ever do an F-16 it could be the True Successor (tm) to Falcon.
