I have seen this brown used by many people in scale modeling and PC simulations. Many years back, I was told the story why this color exists. I've never herd the story since, and wonder if we can A) move the subject to a new posting with your opinoins, or b) hijact this thread.

Here are a few examples of P-38 colors. If you want to start a new thread, so be it. Until then this is the last on color from me.

Hi Guys.

Eagle eyed Mike has spotted a couple more glitches, and one BIG pain. Despite my best efforts I've been bitten by the Glide bug!

Because I ran out out of normal elements, I piggybacked the inner flaps onto the inner wing, and of coarse -32768'ed the elements. In Glide these two elements now show reversed! banghead

I'm going to try and fix this problem, which is not an issue in D3D, but I need to return to a very early E and G.3dz, so I can fix it, as I will have to try to save 2 elements from the model to allow me to add the flaps properly.

Hi John,

Terrific to have the HR P38J Lightning now included
in our EAW HiRes Original Model Inventory....
Looking forward to completing a few skinning projects with this beauty....

Excellent work Mate....

Hi Iron Mike,

Again like your Mk1 Spitfire versions.....

All three versions of this P38J Camo Schemes are worth downloading.

The first 'Brown' version could be used as an MTO base skin....
Your #1 'Olive Drab Green' version could represent a 'factory fresh' model
for the PTO....
While your #2 'Olive Drab Faded Green' version could be representational
of a weathered skin for the ETO....

All versions are interchangable for any 'Theatre of Operations'
and provide a beautiful Base Skin for us guys....

As before, they all have merit and it would be nice to have them available
as 'Base Skins' on your 'Sandbagger Community Page'....

Nice work mate thumbsup
David

Hi Skylark.

The bird is not 100% airworthy yet, but close.

Hi Mike.

I've now got a working boom with original element flaps, which means I'm only a step away from having fixed both of them. wink
