Hi Ralf.

Those spinners are the original LR spinners, but your right they do need a tweak backward.

Hi Mike.

Boy that was quick! Nice skin, and it lets me see all the mapping cock ups, which i could not see when I was skinning the model with just a template.

Hi Guys,

A question from the ignorant biggrin

Can the 24 bit, individually coded skins, be easily converted into 8 bit or would this be very time consuming?
Was mainly asking for those who are having real trouble with D3D, like me wink

Cheers
BPNZ

Some more of your really nice work, Mike. Well done on Gibb's 3DZ.
Thanks for this. A very fast job.
(Don't forget to read the news of an 87-year old P-38 pilot who finally got his medal).

Your highlighting is pretty good.
I'm curious about the color. This one has no olive drab (greenish tint to the brown) on my video card. The little patch on the left-side wing next to the engine is closer to correct.

Hi Brian.

It really depends on the skin, and the colours used. Sometimes the skin will convert easily, and others would need a bit of touching up, where the colours shift into blobs of one colour, or worse, shifts into colours not in the original skin.

This model will be glitch free for Glide, as I've created a new 3dz, with new RS / Normals, and only a minimum number of piggyback elements, where I ran over the 255 limit.

The skin is based on a plate that has the machine a basic green (the same green ain a 1960's Armay fatigue blouse), not a camo color. The actual color is taken from several photographs of P-38s from 1944. They are brown shade without any hint of green. It is mainly what my old Pactra Painting and mix chart calls weathered/faded Olive Drab.

BP, the plane will need a basic re-coloring to work in 8-bit. The shades used do not translate well in th normal EAW palette world, especially the shading.

John,

I'm gonna need an early P-38 for the New Guinea campaign. Mainly the shape of the engine nacels is different. The same shape will do for all P-38's before the J model.

You want to do that or shall I?

Es de 24 bits. Una piel normal no esta listo.

It is 24 bit. A normal skin is not ready.

La piel es solo para la pintura. No para el vuelo.

The skin is for painting. Not for flight.

OK Guys, version 3.

Mike I think I have fixed all the glitches you found, so this model should now be fine, I hope.

Hi Ray.

If you want to do a conversion to the H, that's fine. I'm thinking of doing the bomber version at some stage, which will need a heavy rebuild of the nose elements and RS.
