Did someone say short tracks, short races, and Bimmers with a pit stop?

I like Chunx suggestion of running 2 X 30 minute races with weight penalties and accelerated fuel and tyre wear to ensure at least one pitstop. The reverse grids worked real well in this series and I think it's a great idea to continue in the same vein.
Race report:Practise - Got all my real practise in on Sunday with JonC after testing the track early in the week. Like Joe, I know this track really well from an endurance race that Team SimHQ entered last year. First practise lap (no ballast) without going off resulted in a gentle 1:46 laptime, so I figured I needed to make up about 3 seconds to be on the pace. When I noticed Jon flying around in the 1:42's and read Chunx' post that he had a PB of 1:41.4, I panicked! Dug deep into my GTR2 setup folders and found an old Lamborghini Sebring setup that I had from a previous series with a similar wing setting of 1/4 and gave it a go. Dropped into the 1:42's immediately and after stiffening the springs a tad, snuck into the 1:41's with a 1:41.9xx. From then on in, it was a question of getting used to the Lambo on this track.
Qualifying - Pretty much matched my PB of 1:41.3xx to take pole just ahead of a very fast Joe. I was quite surprised to even get that laptime as all my 1:41 laps were without the 70 kilo weight penalty. From reading the reports above, I guess most of us managed to bring out the best in our respective cars when it mattered most
Race 1 - The Lambo rockets of the line like no other car in this mod and this helped me get a nice clean run into T1 with nobody alongside. Got some real quick laps in and built myself a 3 second lead or so by lap 3. DBR must have had a moment somewhere cause the gap suddenly grew to 7 seconds. I needed all of those 7 seconds to bring home the win as I shredded my left sided tyres big time going through 100R. Unlike Joe, who had a problem with the front left, my rear left tyre was all over the place (running soft-slicks front and rear) DBR was closing at almost 1.5 seconds a lap for the last 3 laps, but I just about held him off for a win.
Race 2 - After the hysterics with the tyres in Race 1, I switched to Soft fronts and Medium rears for Race 2. Got another great start, but braked very early on the inside line to make sure I hit the apex right and didn't run wide at T1. Worked quite well for me as it turns out cause there was some contact and I was through from eighth to fourth. There was more contact between the 3 cars ahead at T4 and I got through into the lead. There was slight contact between Bungle and me when he came back on track only to find me there suddenly

By the time the three cars behind me had got going again, I had a 4 second lead or so. The medium rear tyres worked absolutely brilliantly and I pushed like I did in qualifying and the car handled like it was on rails. An uneventful race later, I had a double race-win, first one in a long time

Too bad I couldn't make the first few races of the series as the last two have been a blast. Good to see some fast new drivers like Jon, Bungle and Nimrud joining us as well as some GTR2 regulars like Adlabs and AMK. Chunx was a great host and like Chip said earlier in this thread; we've been to a few drivers meeting, but none as good as this. Congrats to the speedy DBR for taking the championship. I shudder to think how fast he'll be once he gets his hands on a G25
