Boy, have I missed out on a good series here. Both races today were great fun and I'll be back next week for the series finale at Fuji. Gonna watch the replay of the battle between Chunx and DBR in Race 2. Looked intense from where I was!

Tyre-wise, I finally decided on soft wet fronts and hard wet rears and they worked really well. Got into the low 1:29's in race 2.

Great racing everyone, had a blast, me and Chunx's battle in race 2 was amazing. Hopefully I may have won the championship not sure though.

Good racing guys, its a pleasure to race with you all. I see a lot of respect between the drivers here.

Apologies to Nimrud. Looks like I accelerated in the corkscrew expecting Nimrud to do the same being the fast bastage he normally is but he held off and as a result, I went into the back of him which caused him to spin and I think DBR9 to go into the back of me which flipped my car. More care needed from me in future when coming from the back.

Nevermind, some good racing out there and I think everybody had fun.

Looking forward to Fuji.

Race one was pretty straight forward, I think I finished where I qualified. Lap 1, turn 1 saw the cars bunch up, and I was closer to the rear of Nimrud's Porsche than I realized. Felt a bump and around he went. Sorry about that! Tires and fuel held out, and after some pretty roughly opening laps, I had things together pretty well. At one point I was slowly reeling Doug in, but then I'd get a tire in the sand and loose what I'd gained. Went back and forth a few laps like this.

Race two found me closer to the front of the grid, and I ran behind AMK for the opening laps. He had a pace I wasn't able to really close on, until he went wide into the sand. The faster drivers finally closed in and passed. On the final lap or two, I think it was Nimrud who was closing in for a pass. I thought he had me on the final lap, climbing the hill to the corkscrew. I messed up the previous corner, and I saw him break left from my rearview mirror. I raced him up the hill, heard his engine giving all it could, but never saw him appear out my left window along side! I checked left again before turning into the corkscrew, and still didn't see him, so I took the lead line through to the flag. Was probably the most exciting racing of the day for me.

Thanks guys, Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks, and it was a great day of racing!

FWIW. If I had to pick any race that SimHQ ever ran as "the best of the best", the second race today ranks up with the famous Vikz and goon closer at Daytona and the Docjonel and Thomas duel at Adelaide.

If you want to see sim racing at it's finest, watch race 2 from behind Vikz' inverted starting position, from DBR's and from Nimrud's.

Nimrud gets the POR* award for the day. thumbsup

Interesting race with some moments of drama from my end!

Awesome times during qualifying from the toprunners!
Considering the ballast, Dan and Chunx were amazing! My time was the best I could reach under these circumstances and it was just good enough for a 5th place on the grid.

Decided to go with dry soft tyres for the race as it gave me the most predictable behaviour of the car over a distance without the need to watch my temperatures.

Race 1
Got a good start from the line but had to stay behind Chunx or I would have ended up in the wall.
Unfortunately adlabs and I made contact in T1 then. Only a slight tap but enough to spin my Porsche around.
Had to wait a few seconds to let the rest of the field pass safely and was then again off in my chase for a better finish.
Thx adlabs for waiting and let me rejoin in front of you! Much appreciated! thumbsup
Could close the distance to the guys in front of me after awhile and was able to regain a few positions back.

Again thx to all who let me pass safely and especially to Jon, who even slowed down to let me by though we were running very close for a few laps! Very generous as it would have been next to impossible to safely overtake him otherwise! smile
Finished 5th with quite some distance to the frontrunners but realistically that was as good as it could get without any errrors from the faster drivers.
There is always a reason for your qualifying position! biggrin

Race2
Starting from 6th I was happy to gain a few positions quickly after only a few corners and was following AMK and adlabs uphill to the corkscrew.
Noticed at that moment my virtual mirror was off and frantically pressed the buttons to get it back. That was enough distraction to screw up my shifting then braking hard for corkscrew.
Wondering why the car lost all the thrust suddenly and realizing I was in neutral, my slow car made a target hard to miss with all of us running that close.
So it was clearly not Bungleīs fault, who couldnīt really expect the car in front of him loose all itīs momentum!

Sorry for the chain reaction resulting from my brain fart!
Looking at the replay it looked like all made it through without any harm with the exception of Bungle and me. Sorry again, mate! frown

To be honest I was a bit dissapointed with my lacklustre performance at that point and even thought about retiring! But only for short moment!

Without the chance of a top finish again I tried my best to make up a few positions for the rest of the race.
Lost it a lap later and smashed my car into the tyre barriers. Thank god (Chunx? wink ) for the reduced damage settings as the race would have been ended otherwise there for me!

Could close the distance at the end of the race to adlabs who was running on 6th.
Though we were close he didnīt give me any chance to try a move.
Only at that last lap I got a slightly better exit out of the corner leading to that uphill section before corkscrew.
My Porsche was really giving all he could but I was only able to put my front near adlabs Ferrari, never in front running side by side.
Had to give him the line as there was no safe possibility to try that passing move without invitation to disaster i.e. taking him out!
Great driving, adlabs!

Looking forward to Fuji next weekend!
Hope we can stay to the schedule then as we did this week. Have to hurry getting to work after the finish, but definitely want to make this last race of that great series!

We'll do our very best. Something we've come to realize is drivers are "borrowing" time on the weekends and have a very limited amount of time to race. We can help participants and hopefully continue with nice filled grids by getting everyone in-and-out in 1.5 hours.

Did everyone use soft wets for the race? I used hards front and back.
