No, really. I went outside to get the newspaper and just about slipped on something...ice. Driveway was coated with ice. So I got it and duck walked back inside.

We had a storm pass through yesterday, rained most of the day, snowed for about 5 minutes. Didn't stick. But then it got cold and it's cold right now.

How cold 20mm?

About 29 degrees F. They're calling for even colder tonight, down into the low 20's.

I know, it's not Minnesota cold or Indiana cold. But for the desert SW, it's cold.

We had a hard frost last night and the ground was white when I looked outside this morning. There were snow flurries reported yesterday in the outlying areas like Carefree and Cave Creek. Again, nothing like the states that have been getting hammered with snow, ice and cold weather, but a bit unusual for the southwest desert.

Just curious, do they sell real snow shovels in that part of Arizona or does the garden spade do double duty?

lol, well, no. No need, anywhere south of Phoenix or so.

Up north, like in Flagstaff, or Showlow, or Prescott, oh yeah.

I think I threw my snow shovel over into my neighbor's yard (the one with the snow blower), when we moved down here.

Tucson's snow/ice removal is dismal. If it gets bad, the city just shuts down. The overpasses are disasters, don't want to get on those with ice all over the road.

Yeah, we had over a foot of snow cover with highs in the below zero range most of Dec. but yesterday
it warmed up to 41F and melted half of the snow pack. Wake up today and all of the snowpack on my
driveways and parking lots turned into skating rinks. Temps back to normal around 18F. Have been
spreading rid ice all morning and dumped dowm around 500lbs so far. Went and looked again and it
looks like I have not done a thing. Jeez this sucks when the glaciers melt and refreeze. rolleyes

Looks like all the warmth that y'all normally have got concentrated and sent to the south east, it's about 65 F here today. I heat with wood and am just keeping enough fire going during the day to heat the radiator water for over night. I would like some snow and at least enough cold to keep the bugs in check. We don't always get what we want though.

How do you know that so well? Do you keep a detailed log of all the movies you've seen and how many times you've seen them? wink

Panzer you should get hit with a temporary ban on weather related posts during the Winter. Either that or we will be forced to flood you with reports of people actually having been seen outdoors during the Summer.

When I went to the movies earlier today the thermometer in my truck said it was 69. I won't complain except that I was wearing a sweatshirt since it was cold yesterday.

Momma nature had a reversal here today and we went up to a balmy 63 degrees...and that was with a cloudy sky and no help from the Sun or we would have had to remember where we put the sun screen.

Back toward normal this week but no snow...details at 11.

Well, we're having a pretty nice early Winter here too. We haven't seen a cloud in four days, which is quite nice but also means near zero C temperatures during the day, with a maximum of 4-5C in mid-afternoon, qickly dropping in the negative figures at night. Icy, crystal-clear winter...
At least there is close to no wind at all, so the sun exposure we get makes the cold more bearable.

No indication it's going to snow anytime soon though, it may even not snow at all this year, which is perfectly fine by me.

Cheers

Nico

This is the coldest December I've had in years. I have over a foot of snow so far but it's only around -10/-15C. Last week it was -40C at night and around -25C during the day. frosty
