Sweet!!! Not every day you see an AAR for a DOS simulation!

It's hillarious about using 200 knots for stealth! The prototype for what later became the Knighthawk had slightly sharper swept wings, and one of them crashed on landing due to stalling despite the high landing speed of nearly 200 knots. Meaning what? Only that I doubt an F-117 would really have much safe maneuvering at just 205 knots for just above a dangerous battlefield! I'd think that a minimum of 250 might be required, maybe.

Anyway, here's the prototype Have Blue:

Excellent AAR!

I used to love this sim. The world just felt so alive.

Thanks so much Kreshna - this was so good to see and read. I know several of us still crank up F117 with dosbox from time to time, but to see a detailed AAR such as you spent time and effort on is just great.

And now we know how UTR came to meet his wife through Microprose!

Glad you like it, folks!

Now that was sweet. Really sweet.

Next to Origin Systems, Microprose was my most favorite gaming company those days. I particularly love the combination of 'career mode' and random mission generator (based on selected mission parameters). Not only it I gives 'the right feel' as if you're doing a career of a fighter pilot, but it (almost) makes up for the lack of campaign.

RIP Microprose. frown

Man, I totally missed that era of flight sims. Those graphics would have been really impressive to me back then. I played Strike Eagle, F-19, Gunship! and others in the '80s when I was a kid. Then I got out of it when my C64 died. Didn't start again until the late '90s when I walked thru a Bestbuy software section and saw the box for something called Longbow 2, and promplty went about pricing a PC.
Thanks for all those pics!

Sweet! Thanks for those memories!

Now we need someone to do an F-19 Stealth Fighter AAR!

That you did, and a fantastic job! thumbsup Thank you.

EDIT: I need a little more PC to run DOSBox smoothly (gets choppy at the end of each mission, even with tweaks), but I'm glad to know I have more F-117A in my future.
