Well I had fun with the Russian version in "game" mode, watched 3 hours plus of video tutorials yesterday, kicked open the editor this AM, placed me a shark on the parking area... and started to learn by trial and error... Thanks to Kramer sending me a start up checklist, I got that down (but think I will start using Win+Home for now on, easier and faster, lol), I did pretty well flying, sure everyone on the ground thought I was drunk, but I managed to keep it under 100 feet/meters or whatever that setting is, did a few turns, yaw slides etc etc... did well, but I can't even imagine how a pilot can FLY this bird, AND then engage targets and counter measures... So anyway, flew back to base, tried to come to a hover above my landing pad, never worked. (Is their a easier way to come in and hover then just lower the collective till you land?) After drifting everywhere, I decided just to land where I was, tried to keep it level and still, lowered then... Well... Take Off: First landing: Well since I've already ruined this bird, probably going to military prison now, lets see if i could eject, shoot me away from here and run for the hills before the MP's get me: more practice needed. lol

I'm 4 for 4 on my landings at the moment. It requires lot of concentration, anticipation and coordination, but I haven't found it quite as difficult as I initially expected.
I still haven't even started looking at systems like the ABRIS or weapons, though. All of my efforts are being channeled exclusively into flying.

Got as many landings as takeoffs right now. Of course I haven't tried combat yet. Magnum, remind me not to be your CPG when the Apache module comes out

I'm still working on the flying/landing part myself... but what I've found to be enjoyable and a confidence builder is doing "vert reps" between a carrier and oil platforms. Here's a trk file of it. http://www.rulerofthefreeworld.net/bs/landing practice.trk After take-off, I went right for the oil platform, but ended up opting to hit the carrier first, as a warm up... bigger target to miss

I actually managed to land on a building - it's cool that it even allows that:
SHOW OFF ! ... I tried the same thing on my first couple of flights. Not as lucky as you though. Yah know, if you've been flying Longbow2 or EECH, this really isn't that hard. The way it was touted...I was intimidated. Not so much anymore. It just seems like LockOn with a slower plane ... .

I think it's easier to learn to fly than the Su-25T was, haven't tried a building landing yet though. Having flown EECH, SAR4 and the helos in MSFS helps.

OK, ill ante up... Heres the result of my landing right after installing and taking her for a ride. Maybe I kicked the tires and lit the fires a bit too hard?

Here's my entry into the building club. No auto-hover and flew it in using flight director. Whew, if your hands are ever feeling dry and bothering you give that a shot. Now on to smaller buildings!
