Yes. WOV CD plus 83006 patch and 51506 patch (included) plus YAP installer. 3 clicks.
We will try to accommodate the newest patch when we have time. The helicopter FM is now as good as it can get and we do not wish to surrender it at this time...especially for a Vietnam simulator.
YAP v2 is targeted at people who do not necessarily have WOV. That means they are not as sophisticated in making modifications as people on this forum. We try to get them up to speed with a minimum of reading or decision making. There are options for Plug and Play controls with
Logitech and
Saitek joysticks for newbies. They will have to choose which environment is right for their computer. They may have to skip Sundowner's Hi-Res skins but I hope not. The rest is done.
All they need to know about the aircraft, its peculiarities, background, gameplay, target and how to attack are right there before them through the screens presented. They can review the briefing mid-mission and even zoom in on the actual target. It's as real as we can make it to run on a Dell laptop.
We have 5 practice missions that a lot of thought and work went into. Since nobody wants to practice...something real pilots do constantly...we wanted to entertain them into learning what they need to know. Things like knowing the view commands, knowing how to navigate, using the radar, even just looking around. There is a gunnery mission at Gila Bend, a night landing of a KC135 at U Tapao, carrier quals, night traps and helicopter practice. After those quick missions they will feel ready to go. Then we stick them on the deck of the Ticonderoga and send them off to attack the Quang Khe Ferry on the first official day of the air war. Even that leap might stir some thoughts...like "WTF am I doing?" That's what they thought that morning so the player should, too.
Gila Bend: taxi, take off, radio "hold down", formation, view options, refueling, navigation, weapons selection, gunnery, landing, taxi to parking.
U Tapao: Lights, increased drag, glide slope, VASI lights, thrust reversers, taxi to parking.
Carrier Quals: configure (hook), approach, landing.
Night Trap: Hey. Nobody said it was going to be easy but we have new lights anyway.
Can Tho: Vertical takeoff, translation, pedal turns, collective, use of drag, vertical landing.
Holy #$$%^!! Get me out of here!
