Hi

Just tried Wings Over Europe.
1st. impression was ok, with new music nice menus ok graphics and so on.
I spend 2 minutes with it, and then went back to F4AF. The stupid way of spending 19.99$.
Looking forward to what Black Shark will bring to the future.
For now F4AF is the only sim worth playing.

There are alternatives but they're also Falcon mods. Yep, Falcon is still king!

Yes, I'm anxiously awaiting FF5! Looks to be terrific. This sim is amazing. After so many years, it's still one of the best.
Really can't wait for FF5...I'm hoping it's still on the way.

Have the entire 3rd wire series and they are the only alternative for me actually. Differnet era, different weapons, different skills to be learnt - no flippin CCIPs in a 1968 F-4E!! - Can add any jet, any weapon and any skin you like really easily to.

I mean flyin the F-16 really is a peice of pi$$ compared to dogfighting a Mig-17 in an F-100 with the latest AI iteration. They are most impressive sims with a few minor mods and you get to fly some really great jets with the actual 3D cockpits!


That being said Falcon 4 is a great sim but my only hard core sim - got to get out sometimes you know

Its true - we simmers are a quirky bunch. I think I own just about every flight title made in the past 15 years. I agree Falcon still reigns king. It provides me with a feel that the outside world is actually alive that no other sim can or has done. Funny thing is that I came in Falcon pretty late and used to think it was crap. I never spent the time on it and could not get past what I saw as horrible graphics. Makes me wonder what other sims out there I feel the same way about now that are really gems unknown to me.

My picks are:

Jets - Falcon4 (AF,OF,FF)
GA - FSX
Props - IL2 series... as far as actually dogfighting skills it reigns supremo for me. Although I did take a break from it for almost a year and just reloaded it. It somehow now seems dated to me. weird...
Helo - I gave up on combat helos at Janes Longbow -- but I just picked up Blackshark and am am currently freaking out by how damn cool it is. Really really amazing.I only regained an interest in rotors after trying my hand at them in FSX.

I guess I am brainwashed by F4 -- it has given such love for the Falcon I am still hoping that there will be an update at some point.

I need some form of multiplayer though with whatever I play -- I just tend to like the camaraderie of working together with others that enjoy the same hobby,

I've had F4 since the good old days, but was too young to appreciate it. I bought AF as soon as it came out thinking it would be some kind of amazing new rendition of my old love, but it was pretty ,much just rehashed old F4...but once I found OF, there is nothing like it. FF has some superior a/c models as far as AI stuff goes, but, OF is the most realistic variant, and it still looks pretty good by today's standards (relatively speaking) IMO.
