Hi Guys,

I wish I could have had the scoop on this bit of ROF info, but the news comes from Fransvalli's WWI Air Combat website. Congrats Dave on your invitation (suppose Dart and/or SimHQ has gotten the word by now too).

Wow, we got scooped!

I knew it had to be coming up pretty soon based on the expo demonstration, but hadn't heard anything about a specific date or who'll be in the beta test pool.

I'm not sure they've sent out the official invitations yet. I contacted them first about beta plans. I'm sure you'll be on the list, Dave and Dart! smile

This is the message I got from their PR:

"About beta-testing: Beta starts on December, 15th. There will be a press list of participants. We will add you to the list, create an account for you and will send an access key. Recommended technical requirements on the site are the same for beta (http://www.riseofflight.com/en/Gameinfo.html)"

I guess the release must be getting closer.

Congrats on the invite. Looking forward to hearing some insights on the sim.

Please tell us how playable it is at less powerful requirements like AMD 6400 with only 2 Gig RAm and GTX 260, when you initiate beta testing.( if the ROF team allow you to share this kind of information)

Hehe smile. Yes I hope we can share pictures and movies! If not, we will have to describe in painstaking details!

Unless there's an NDA; then the beta team members won't be describing anything...

As excited as I am about the chance of being considered for the beta test pool, I'm not counting on it. There is a lot that goes into the pool selection, including just cutting the list shorter than one originally planned.

The bigger the pool, the larger the chance for betas to get jacked over onto the Internet.

And I'd be very suprised if they made the beta pool public by name.

I'm sure that the developers will allow beta testers to post good-quality images from the sim, they'll want to get people excited about the Rise of Flight. One offers up the image for inspection, the image is declared ok to publish after the watermark is applied

Can't buy it if you don't know about it...

There is a lot that goes into the pool selection

That's it Dart yes. We (I anyway) had a shock when we found out how many online Il-2 tournaments are running all over the world, with massive competitiveness and small prizes probably. Like at HL where there's 1200 people flying and yet you can't get a 16 player coop mission going for love nor money nor2 promises of dancing girls

We're a drop in the ocean. Happy drops in a happy flight-sim community ocean then. Most of us Smile2

No word on my end yet. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Could be that they delayed it, but I'm not so sure since they gave a pretty exact date.

Thanks for taking the time and losing the sleep you probably did to get the interview up today Dave (much appreciated)!

Btw, it's a great read, and right from the beginning LOFT sets the right tone:

But there is one important BUT: we do not want, that the future publisher perceived Rise of Flight as just your ordinary flight sim. We consider, that «Rise of Flight» is not only the bright representative of flight sims game, but also the bright representative of new and interesting genre such as «documentary games» that are yet to be created.

I'm going to create a thread posting just to give the proper heads-up to your interview Dave. Again, thanks a bunch for taking the time to select the questions and write up the interview, and of course thanks to Albert for giving us the goods on more of what ROF is going to look like.

Nice interview Frank!

I'm not in the beta testing pool, but I sure hope they allow for at least some tid bits to be released during the process.

Shame about the AI and the clouds, but as long as they continue to try and resolve that, I'm good.
