Ok, now. Anyone wants to visit Hendon with a good photocamera?

We need photos of the Meteor F.8. So, if you want to fly it over Korea - don't hasitate to send us photos of this bird.

We have, as usual, paricular perverted interest to varios holes, like: landing gear wells, flap wells, airbrake wells, cockpit, as well as other parts: wing fillets at the engine and fuselage, fin to fuselage joint, stab to fin joint, canopy, etc., etc.
Overall walkaround with general views from various sides will be usefull too.

Thanks in advance to those, going to help. ;\)

A shame - I was at Hendon two weeks ago! But I have a shoddy camera anyway, so no great loss.

Anyone contemplating it, Hendon's a great place to visit. Loads of fascinating stuff from all eras. Be advised, minimum card spend at the cafe is £10 so bring cash or your own lunch if you don't eat much.

Isn't there a better chance to find someone if you ask in the IL2 Forum or the Zoo?

Anyway, if nobody else in the London area can do it I would make the loooong and boring journey from Leeds until mid December. Would that be sufficient time wise?

Anybody knows how helpful they are at Hendon? Will they give you access to the cockpit?

Coincidentally I'm planning a trip to the RAF museum at Cosford in a few weeks - is there anything you'll need from there? Here's their aircraft (displayed on possibly the worst website in the world) http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/collections/aircraft/aircraft_collection_cosford.cfm

I still have a rubbish camera but I'll try to find someone who's got a better one. I suppose Kodak Crap-o-Camera is better than nothing anyway...

edit: they have a prone-pilot F8, the Meteor prototype, the NF.14,and a T7. Also the Valiant, an Argosy, York, Lincoln, Canadair Sabre...

Well, actually we are interested in photos of any F.8 or FR.9 (which is F.8 with cameras in the nose section). I mentioned Hendon, because, judging from i-net photos, it is displayed with landing flaps lowered. And this is one of the areas, we are interested in.

As for the prone-pilot F.8, the aiframe and the rear cockpit should be almost the same, as in the standard F.8. So, if you could make shots of the landing gear wells, flap wells, wing fillets and the rear cockpit - that would be very helpful. Well, or at least anything from the listed above...

Sabre would be interesting also, particulary the cockpit. But it is a loe priority, since, basically, this model is done already.

French-language page on the Meteor in Belgian service:

Would that be good for you?

Sure. I will appriciate detailed photos of any Meteor F.8. As I wrote above, I asked about that particular one at Hendon, because it seems to be the only one displayed with flaps lowered.

So, if you can take photos of the parts and views, listed in the first post - we will greatley appriciate this, for sure.

Also, another question to Londoners: can you adwise on how to get to Hendon museum from London, using public trasportation. One Russian guy plans visit to London in the beginning of December and promissed to make few photos also. But he asks the directions to the place.

Wow very cool. Can't wait to see these planes in action!

I think I am more excited about the Korean sim than BoB.

Saqson, I have got a lot of photos and a walk-around (well, crawl-around actually!) movie for you now.

-----

The 100+ full-size photos are in the following Powerarchiver zip-file:

http://dalsgaard.eu/Pics/Zips/2007-11-25.Brussels.Air.Museum.Gloster.Meteor.Mk.VIII.zip

The zipped movie is here:

http://dalsgaard.eu/Pics/Zips/2007-11-25.1.Brussels.Air.Museum.Gloster.Meteor.Mk.VIII.SD.zip

-----

This is the Brussels Air Museum Meteor Mk. VIII in question:

Imagine my pleasure when I saw that the flaps were deployed!:

From the rear:

One of the pics I took of the nose gear well:

Main gear well:

Some other interesting planes, a late-model Spit:

And a Vampire:

-----

I hope you can use these. I tried to take some "isometric" zoom photos of the flaps from the rear, but anyway, you can see all that in the zips...

G’day SaQSoN

There is also a flying F.8 located in Australia, located here Aussie F.8 , I think it may be an idea to contact them as they may be able to assist you with flying references.
