It's going to have credits all over the terrain? pitchafit

Seriously, is the yap website functioning properly? I've been there several times recently, and I can't get past the second page. None of the button links work, and I've tried it on two PCs.

Nah, we're messing around with a easter egg hunt fun mission for the players enjoyment, but at the same time giving Deuces a banner for his excellent work.

The new site is under construction. Zerocinco is working on it as we speak. YAP v2 is all but done, save for an edit here or there and ONE plane we are waiting on we feel is a vital contribution to the YAP stories.

Good, thanks. Going to reinstall WOV in a couple of months, and tempted to pony up for the whole package to go with new PC.

It needs one change, then the plane is done. While I am working on all that website stuff, another helicopter will arrive.

Sneak peek:

Watch it in Full Screen, High Quality for the best effect.

This too:

I will shoot one showing off the jungle and some of the villages and post it.

But the website is dead for a while longer.

Finally. Needed this airplane. Creating installer and out to testers this weekend. Aiming for Thanksgiving release.

Someone wanted a real live SAR over on CA. We have several in YAP 2. This one is the most famous rescue of all. Hobo 51.

Bernie Fisher, MOH. Did it because it seemed to be the right thing to do.

In Yankee Air Pirate, all you have to do is land and get him out. Piece of cake.

Some of the practice missions in YAP 2: This one from Gila Bend by Deuces. Man, I never put that many holes through the sheet.

Which is the best website to find more information? Will the YAP.net come up prior to Thanksgiving?

Cheers.

It will be sold from the website...so yes. I was supposed to do it 8 or 9 months ago but was sidetracked by other chores. There are web things I don't know how to do yet that we need to have. But there are some very cool things we have been sitting on for over a year that we can finally let out of the bag.

By the way, the skins on the A-1E were done by Sundowner over a year ago before the model existed. The pilot is Bernie Fisher and that was done by Diego two years ago.

You lucked out. You didn't have to suffer through what our customers had to go through. Amongst ourselves we are amazed at how loyal and trustworthy they are. If you had bought YAP 1, you would be given YAP 2 anyway (with various cheesy caveats). (The groan you hear out there are the people who don't know we have an installer this time.)

At the end, the freight was impossibly huge. This time missions will be sold in order. That does not mean that someone cannot jump ahead and buy whatever they want. It just means that if the mission calls for the Oriskany and we handed that out in Mission 36, we aren't shipping it again. So you might find yourself sitting in Deuces new ocean waiting for a boat if you jump ahead too far. With all these carriers to deliver, there will still be huge downloads. Just not 300 megabytes. And they will be installers, too.

Back to work...

Does this mean that if I want, I can by the whole YAP2 all at one time and not worry about missing having some pieces or parts ???

You could if it were all posted at once. It will take some time to get all the missions up on the site for download. We had to replace a few. We have to rewrite all of them to take into account the new clouds. Most had other reasons to change like having an A-1E to fly those missions we were flying with an A-1H.

We are sure to screw up something. But we will be around to fix up what we get wrong.

Customer support !!! Now that is a new concept. cheers

Actually, that just goes back to your statement that your customers are loyal to you,.... because you are loyal to them. thumbsup

I assume that YAP2 will still be made for Sp4 (i.e. Aug 06) patch and not the new Sp5 (Oct 08) patch because of the helicopters.

We have played with it and we are sure that we can adapt to it in the future when we have the time to go over our FM's. But right now, the helicopters fly well and to give up helicopters and call ourselves Vietnam is going the wrong way. So when v2 is out and the dust settles, we will go at it. We'd like the AI improvements, already have the bulletholes, animations, etc. Deuces can fix any terrain problems.

A new player would install WOV basic, install two patches and install YAP. Lots of "Install" but if one has a refrigerator and some beer, this whole thing will be done by halfway to the bottom of the second beer.

Information that was hard to find before is now in plain view. And mission information will be revealed in very new ways...what it is, where it is, what it looks like, how to hit it, what to look out for and how to be stupid...just like the real thing...including the beer part.

Eightlein wanted a helicopter to play Die Valkyrie. Then he wanted the pilot objects to sing fighter pilot drinking songs. Then he wanted girls in Bangkok and Saigon. We thought he would be happy with a wooden pier in place of those painted ones. You can't please some people.

If you don't drink all the beer right away, you can fly the 5 training missions in less than an hour and be every bit as good as any new fighter pilot when you go on your first mission in YAP.

Are you going to include the old patches in the downloads.

I think that would be ideal, it will save people having to search for them.

Yep. All packed up. We even have one page called The Directions. Assuming that nobody read directions, we condensed it. New people really need to know that 10 minutes learning the commands makes the game 10 times as good.

Good stuff.

If I was to force my way upon everyone, you'd have to unlock planes using clues scattered through the manual.

RTFM will be the name of my firstborn.
