I'm not a real pilot, so I couldn't say what's most realistic. There was an article done here at SimHQ, years back (2001 maybe), about the rotorcraft flight characteristics of X-Plane (7 I think was the current version then). The review was conducted by the helicopter forums mod (forgot his handle) and he was an actual pilot in Canada for a logging company I believe. As I recall, he was pretty impressed with X-plane back then. I have heard good things about BS though, really looking forward testing it out when it hits North America.

I like Activision Value's Apache Longbow Assault. I am always amazed that you don't hear more buzz about that one. The graphics and sound effects are second to none. The flight model feels right but I am not a real helo pilot so I don't know. It seems consistent with everything I've read about the Apache though. I believe it is still available from the Activision Value website if you're interested.

There is also some in game footage at You Tube. Just look up "Apache Longbow Assault." The game got good reviews when it came out.

If DCS:BS has translational lift then it would be the best. So far NOOOO helicopter sim has that basic fundamental so they all are unrealistic.

Hmm.. I have been using FSX. If X-plane has it then I will have to pick it up and try it. Is there somewhere that lists the helicopter physics of X-plane 9?

If DCS:BS has translational lift then it would be the best. So far NOOOO helicopter sim has that basic fundamental so they all are unrealistic. LB2 most definitely has translational lift!! Not only in normal flight regimes, but to the extent that if you are down with a single engine and cannot lift off, you can release the wheel brake and execute a rolling takeoff (esp. if you happen to be on an incline!).

Hmmm, hit me on the head, but I loved Vietnam Med+Evac. It really was a challenge, and the flight model just felt real. Well, apart from the graph.
