I believe that's AAA's aim, with the unified installer being a pre-alpha version of what they intend to do.

Quiting ? Are you serious ? It's like you've been locked in the same small room for seven years with a chair and a desk, and finally you manage to open that door and visit the 80 rooms mansion behind it. Would you try to fursnish the little room with as many stuff from the mansion as you can, or settle to live in the mansion ?

Cheers

Nico

Hi Bob, you may want to go over to the AAA site and have a look around when you have a moment. All the terms you are hearing thrown around are in reference to the MODs and Mods structure that makes all the new stuff work together. All the downloads you will need to get started are available there. Hackl I beleive they have recently come out with an installer. The 352nd developed our own Unified Installer a few months back and have been using it successfully for a while now and it definitely makes life easier, especially for those who do not have the time to become intimate with the Modding file structure. It combines the MODS into one neat and tidy download. However as new things are developed and or made better the UI will constantly need to be updated, I know ours gets updated every month or so depending upon new developments.

Best regards,

It's advisable Bob to copy your complete Il-2/1946 install somewhere to keep a backup copy in case when installing mods you end up in a mess as I did

An external USB drive is very handy for jobs like this

Canon, you asked me:

When did you get back from your trip to Mars...?

Sorry for asking the questions. If I knew the answers, I would not have asked. For example, in your response, "Game has been hacked" means nothing to me. I have never heard of AAA, and I have never heard of "sound mod" or "the original mod".

I would like to know how much younger you are than I. There is probably a direct correlation between our age difference and our knowledge of such things as above. I have been through two complete careers, retired, and don't have time nor desire to devote a great deal of my life (or what is left of it) to the above. I enjoy playing the game, like to keep up with changes as best I can, and have found that this forum is a great place to ask how. These folks have always been very helpful, and I have been grateful for the assistance.

Bob - it's a bloody joke. Don't take it so seriously.

Sorry, I guess I just didn't take it that way. I always feel stupid enough when I ask my questions, and have felt for some time that I would get a response such as yours, but in seriousness.

Thanks.

It's all good Bob, I'm certain CanonUK really didn't mean to offend. Most people that aren't familiar with computers can feel a little intimidated when dealing with technical questions. You should be commended for keeping up with the technology. Have fun!

Cheers

We're British we tend to tease our friends Bob so we can see what they're made of when they get angry and therefore emotional, and perhaps reveal more of their true nature than they'd like to. If they react badly we know they won't be any use to the team in a tight spot. It's an angle
