Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but are'nt these maps going to be available from AAA through a link?
These guys aren't associated with the AAA site any more (think I read that on their forum that is linked to in the first post) so I wouldn't assume that it will be there nor that it will follow their conventions/rules of doing mods. I'd wait for official info on this one from the map makers themselves before making any assumptions either way.
The 352nd Virtual Fighter Group is not associated with the AAA site. The map, when complete, will be compatible with the AAA mod structure and will come with its own one-step installer. We will make it available from as many sites as wish to host it, including our own.
By the way, we
are getting closer to completion. We've still got a lot of bases to finish and a few details to correct, but we're getting there. Our hope is to host or hold a "release party" for the community when the map finally leaves our hands and gets into yours.
What kind of framerates are you getting with all of these ground textures? Just curious what kind of system do you guys think will be needed to run the game smoothly.
Tom, we haven't done a frame rate test on the map but I can tell you that our squad members test this map frequently and have a wide variety of systems, some very strong, others older, and none have complained of unplayability. We intentionally leave the airfields comparatively sparse; there is a lot of detail but not so much that frame rates are negatively impacted. The real detail will be up to the mission builders to create.
These new textures are still experimental. So far we've not seen a worrisome fps hit (knock on wood).
Our goal is to make the map playable on the majority of existing systems, knowing that we will never please everyone.
