Ruger thanks. The BoB version is completed and being assembled now for release. The late war version of the map we still have many airfields like you see above to build but should not take as long as we have some new techniques we are using in the build. WinkNGrin

Best regards,
Booze

That's good news, Booze! Thanks for the update. Any idea of the hoped for day of release? Meaning your hoped for release, not ours as that would have been months ago. wink Keep up the great work!

Excellent, excellent excellent ! I have a question for you Booze : When (what year) does 'late war' start ? Which version of the map would be best to represent, say, August 19th 1942 biggrin ?

Cheers

Nico

No, this is a completely different map with different textures, cities, roads and airfield placement. It (roughly) represents the same area as Canon's map, but differently and at different time periods.

You can't have too many Channel maps biggrin

Cheers

X-Man,

No, we are not duplicating CanonUK's map. The 352nd VFG map is much larger and is 1:1 scale. In its first iteration the Canon map was 1:2. I'm not sure what it is now as I believe it has been adjusted to be larger in scale, but still not 1:1.

You can see a good comparison of the two maps, and the in-game Normandy map, here.

Additionally, the 352nd map will be released in two versions; the first will be the 1940 Battle of Britain version with airfields, both RAF and German, that are historically correct for that period. The second will be an 8th Air Force version that will model Allied and Axis airfields during the later war years (1943-45) with a corresponding emphasis on Allied fighter and bomber bases and later Luftwaffe airfields.

The two maps will probably serve different purposes; the 352nd map is larger and lends itself to long, real-time co-ops. Canon's map, being smaller, will, I suspect, satisfy other needs better.
