My father bought me my first month of Iracing with his credit card. We were discussing the game and I said no way I would pay 20 dollars a month for a racing game plus buy extras such as cars and tracks as needed. He said he was really curious about the game as it has gotten alot of attention on the NASCAR forums that he visits. (I don't have time to go to actual racing sites, I am to busy on my sim sites LOL) Well bottom line after playing this way overpriced, outragelously marketed game I am HOOKED!!!! I absolutely am digging the races, even though I get my butt handed to me every time. I am ready to pay for 3 more months! One big problem, since I paid with his credit card the first month I am now Joe Junkin insted of Christopher Junkin. Does anyone know if I will be able to change my name? I have written Iracing but have not heard back from them yet. I imagine they are a little bit busy at this time with the huge new influx of people since going public.
As for the game that I was so against(all though I was careful not to say it on the forums). In one long weekend (Thur-Sun) I have become a hopless addict. It just feels right. I am not a huge fan of the ranking system yet as I am getting my butt kicked in every race and I don't feel like I am racing people the same caliber as me, as I hoped and was promised by the jargon about the game. I am hoping as more people start to play that this system will get better.
I am also hoping they will eventually let leagues set up their own fields so we can do some planned racing. The incident scripting can also be messed up as I was charge a 4x penalty for contact with another car when there was no one even 400 feet of me. Trying to get your safety rating up is part of the addiction of this game. I have spent alot of time just doing time trials trying to better my lap times and safety rating.
One final thought. My wife who is "Mrs. Ihate Videogames" has become a maniac about beating my best lap times in practice (you don't think I would let her do timetrials, she would kill my safety rating) and is getting pretty damn good. She set up in my office for 2 hours Friday night grippinng the MOMO and zooming around South Boston just knowing she could be my time (she never did

) That to me says more about the car handling then anything. I have yet to find a car she can drive consitently in Rfactor or Live For Speed, but she sure looks ok in this one. Heck I might be paying 40 dollars a month here soon so we can both race. (once again no way I would let her mess up my safety rating).
If you are a sim racing fan do yourself a favor and spend 20 bucks to try this sim out for a month. You will definately get your monies worth!
