My father bought me my first month of Iracing with his credit card. We were discussing the game and I said no way I would pay 20 dollars a month for a racing game plus buy extras such as cars and tracks as needed. He said he was really curious about the game as it has gotten alot of attention on the NASCAR forums that he visits. (I don't have time to go to actual racing sites, I am to busy on my sim sites LOL) Well bottom line after playing this way overpriced, outragelously marketed game I am HOOKED!!!! I absolutely am digging the races, even though I get my butt handed to me every time. I am ready to pay for 3 more months! One big problem, since I paid with his credit card the first month I am now Joe Junkin insted of Christopher Junkin. Does anyone know if I will be able to change my name? I have written Iracing but have not heard back from them yet. I imagine they are a little bit busy at this time with the huge new influx of people since going public.

As for the game that I was so against(all though I was careful not to say it on the forums). In one long weekend (Thur-Sun) I have become a hopless addict. It just feels right. I am not a huge fan of the ranking system yet as I am getting my butt kicked in every race and I don't feel like I am racing people the same caliber as me, as I hoped and was promised by the jargon about the game. I am hoping as more people start to play that this system will get better.

I am also hoping they will eventually let leagues set up their own fields so we can do some planned racing. The incident scripting can also be messed up as I was charge a 4x penalty for contact with another car when there was no one even 400 feet of me. Trying to get your safety rating up is part of the addiction of this game. I have spent alot of time just doing time trials trying to better my lap times and safety rating.

One final thought. My wife who is "Mrs. Ihate Videogames" has become a maniac about beating my best lap times in practice (you don't think I would let her do timetrials, she would kill my safety rating) and is getting pretty damn good. She set up in my office for 2 hours Friday night grippinng the MOMO and zooming around South Boston just knowing she could be my time (she never did \:D ) That to me says more about the car handling then anything. I have yet to find a car she can drive consitently in Rfactor or Live For Speed, but she sure looks ok in this one. Heck I might be paying 40 dollars a month here soon so we can both race. (once again no way I would let her mess up my safety rating).

If you are a sim racing fan do yourself a favor and spend 20 bucks to try this sim out for a month. You will definately get your monies worth!

You'll be able to change it, just wait a bit.

They changed my name for me. Great customer service. I am loving Iracing more and more, even though I suck!!!

Laguna Seca SUCKS I can't even do 1 clean lap with the damn Pontiac . Hell I can't do a clean lap doing 30 miles an hour.

I know it sounds lame, but just keep practicing MoBay.

Last week at Laguna I did a time trial and in the half hour period did not register ONE time, due to having at least one incident in 4 laps...

It was very frustrating...buttt I got the hang of it, watched a few youtube tutorials and my time started dropping.

Keep at it! It's very rewarding when you finally get the hang of it and start stringin together some incident free laps!

Kestrel thanks for the advice. I am grinding and grinding trying to get better. My Oval rating is 4.43 my Road is 2.63 under Chris Junkin.

I havn't even tried a time trial in road.

On a happy note, I got my first top 5 at South Boston! Not a win but it sure felt better than the 7th or 8th I usually finish in.

I agree about Laguna Seca. I'm horrible there, like you said even at 30mph. I've done some practicing but nothing's coming together at all for me to put down even a halfway decent time without running off somewhere. I took the week off from iRacing because I didn't want to kill other drivers there during a race (well, and I was working nights for a week...heh).

I still only have 3 or 4 races in and those are at LRP. My road rating is 2.77 Rookie so I guess I need to get working on it. \:\)

Weasel, you just need probably one clean race to get over 3 so just start at the back, let the field get ahead by a few seconds, and make your way past the crashers. Thats what i did.
I think i jumped .5 of a whole point in 1 race a few times!! I i would have done the same even if i was capable of winning races.

Now i only race to do just that, feels good to have fair wheel to wheel fights.

Good idea! Yeah, I can do clean races...although during two races other people got into me. One guy was just parked near the guardrail at Limerock right where everyone drifts out to keep their speed. I plowed right into the back of him because he wasn't moving and I was already going about 75mph there.

I've now heard you can reset your car if you get damaged...lol. I didn't know about this, so those two races I finished with some good damage, limping and still finishing midpack. \:D

To be honest, i've had most fun in the Ovals. I had never raced in one before and found it quite refreshing.
Plus the fact the races are only 40 laps, at 15 seconds a pop so they are over in 10 minutes.
I only seem to go on iRacing during the week and not weekends due to rfactor commitments, so doing 33laps at over a minute isnt really possible.

Talking of resetting Weasel, i'll let you into a secret... I didn't know how to do it either, and i got some bad damage at the beginning of the race, car was undrivable so i sat just inside the pits for the whole race!!! Shocking i know, but i didnt want to quit as it really hurts your SR. Lol.

Think I'm going to have to give the Legends a go at South Boston. I just ran a time trail there and that track is a lot of fun! No incidents, and got to 18.5 with 47 laps. Didn't do much for my rating, but it was fun.

I ran in a Solstice race at LRP, started 11th...finished 4th after the pileup at T1 and T2...lol. I ended up with 1 incident because I was following a car for a couple laps and he went off at T1...and I almost followed. I ended up dipping off just a bit and got the point. Grrr. 2.87 now.
