Since we don't have a dedicated video thread for the Motorsports division here at SimHQ, I figured I'd start one smile Been browsing through some of the videos posted by our members over at YouTube and found some beauties.

Come on lads, either find and post some videos or create your own and post away. Get those creative juices flowing.

I have lots of SimHQ races saved in replays. I have no clue how to make movies out of them but would love to try.

I was watching some of them the last couple days some of lasts year F1 races.

Good one Weas, I missed that.

Here's my first effort at making a video...be gentle. Nothing special, just a hotlap around Fuji in the CTDP cars with some text and music thrown in. I believe I'm getting the hang of it though \:\)

First Video ever

Give it a minute to buffer.

I used Pinnacle Studio which came with a Pinnacle TV tuner card that I have. Seems to be the easiest to use unless you guys think there's something easier out there?

FRAPS is good for capturing video from your rFactor replays. If you want to edit the video (adding audio, effects, text, etc), you'll need a video editor. Here's a link which compares some of the popular commercial video editing software.

Lots of free software around too.

Couple of practice laps before my League race to "get warmed up".
And a little heel toe action.

What kind of shifter is that to the right of your wheel?

Your heel-toe technique needs work. You're letting pressure off the brake pedal every time you blip the accelerator.

DJ, the short answer is that you need to capture the video from the game, either live, or from a replay with capture software like FRAPS, then edit it with movie making software like the free Windows Movie Maker. Add music, transitions, and titles with Movie Maker. Then upload to YouTube.com or Vimeo.com.

My heel toe technique works fine for me in this sim or any sim for that matter, in my wife's Mini S I roll my right foot... and that works fine in real life. Wink wink. wink

It may work, but you wont be braking as well as you could be. Your unsettling the car and losing time in the braking zone.

I uploaded a bunch of videos of our races the past couple days, they are just my point of view during the first laps of the races.

Germany

Hungary
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP7wv8UOdsE&feature=channel_page

Valencia

Spa

Fun Series Race

You may want to turn your volume down on a couple, they are very loud.

Cool!

I actually made an appearance near the end of the Fun Series race. That was the race that my girl hopped up on my lap on at the very start and I ended up nearly doing a 360.

Did you record that with Fraps (or something like that), or do you use the 'replay' feature of the game to make video?

Cheers!

I used Game Cam because fraps takes up too much space if you record too long.
