Howdy getting ready to try some of the different terrain addons out there was wondering what are some of the highlights of different terrains, pros and cons of the addons? Using a Voodoo 5500 glide. Thanks for any info. Wow my spelling is terrible!

So is mine Lonny
What comes with FCJ is possibly the nicest overall, however you need too do some tweaking with FCJ CP too bring out the draw distance of distant structures like bridges. Also need too have a powerful video card too do it really well. It can bring a powerful system too its knees if you over do it.
OTE PL is in my opinion the nicest free terrain patch. It comes with a nice ground haze which is great for MMP but can be used with any install of RB apart from FCJ. The FCJ terrain is I understand only useable with FCJ. Other downfall is you cant bomb online due to some differences in how the targets are handled by the server. What you see is not what everybody else will see. VEry nice for just plain old dogfighting though an looks great offline. Not used any others for a very long time.

Hi Gromet I bit confused, okay so FCJ has its own terrain and can only be used with the whole install game update?

I see there is a Promised Land 1 terrain called Openglide-PL128.

and a Promised Land 2 terrain PL2PL.zip

and then a Hell's Angels Scenery Pack (IS THIS THE ONE YOU LIKE?)is based on the combining the fine work of Rabu's OTE 4-Seasons 3i pack w/clouds and Kessler's PL Object Pack. Producing an
atmosphere and graphic detail that heighten the HA experience.

For a Voodoo 5500 running in Glide I take it these are the 3 main terrains to try?

Thanks!

Yes, not sure how you'd get hold of FCJ now though, its no longer officially supported.

Yes PL128 I think this one has new aircraft 3d models with it. Been a really long time though heh

yep Im not too sure about this one, it could be direct draw stuff???

i'd just go for OTEpl stuff you can find that at HA site.

PL128 oh boy i used too use that one, Simplest install i can think of is HASP with OTE terrains. Or the MMP version. Best making two installs though tryinng too mix them up can have terribly confusing results. The FM for HA is totally diffrent you see and you will not be able too enter any servers.
The MMP version is a trimmed down version of HA but i think youll have serious problems trying too play single player on HA MMP.

The OTE/PL and PL2/PL both have the upgraded objects/effects files included. These two terrain packages offer the most upgrade to the game.
PL128 is a half-size version (128x128)of PL1 for slower machines.
PLasVia is a UOP with SWWISA planes, a PL1 style DD terrain and glide terrain. Kessler cross-mixed the files so you have to use the "lowres.vol" (DD terrain)along with the 3DPatch files or it won't work. Since the planes are in "lowres.vol" you can load other UOP's over it.
I use an archive install of RB3D with CM11 (plus a glidewrapper and FCJ-CP)alraedy loaded with terrains in it's PATCHES folder, saves a lot of work!
If you see some river junctions looking disconnected there's file to fix that (it's a stock RB problem that affects all terrains), look in my sticky post above for the link.
