I posted this information before, but mixed in with some other stuff, so it may of gotten lost.
I've been trying to organize gameplay for the old, classics like Ghost Recon, Raven Shield, and SWAT4. I started a STEAM User Group titled "Old School Co-op (OSC)", we have 4 members so far, but the last two scheduled events no one showed. (GR then RS). This coming Thursday is SWAT4.
This user group is just that, there is no "clan rules' like mandatory training, mandatory attendance, etc etc... just simply must play the old school classics, in co-op mode, and know how to work and play as a team, and with basic real world tactics.
If interested, even if only interested in one of the games instead of all three, and you have STEAM, look for our user group and join in. Announcements and schedules are posted there. Don't worry, if you don't have or use Steam, then I will post the announcement in the forum also, so you can still join and play. (But of course STEAM users will have priority.)
We mainly rotate, (currently with no mods), Ghost Recon (and the 2 official expansion packs, Gold), Raven Shield (and it's 2 official expansion packs, Gold), and SWAT4 (with the SS expansion, Gold).
Hope to start seeing some more classic action.

OK I joined the group and will try to show up for the SWAT4 event if it is still going on by the time I can get online (usually around 9:30-10 pm Eastern).

Well what usually happens, at least on the last 2 schedule events... I sit in TS all alone, waiting for others to join, if no one joins within 30 mins I leave to go play something else, with someone else... so if there is a later or different time, then let me know in advance, and I'll try and make the schedule/arrangement change. Right now it's usually every Thursday that we run a classic.

Noted! Unfortunately, with the dictates of family life, and kids bathtime/bedtime schedules, somewhere between 9:30-10pm is usually when I manage to get online. So, if nobody shows at 8 and you want to try checking in later, I will try to be around. Maybe I can strongarm Eugene in as well, though he doesn't like SWAT4 much (and I'm not sure he has TSS). We have actually been having fun in Swat3 lately!

Magnum, I think you set up the GR and RS events when I was on vacation. I'm back. I don't have SWAT 4 anymore and didn't much like it, but I played Raven Shield online on Ubi.com for FIVE HOURS today and SIX HOURS yesterday (Saturday).
Recluse, Eugene, Striker and those guys haven't been around for RS/GR lately. I hope they come back to it. Raven Shield online is like crack and I seem to be addicted. Rarely do Ubi servers play the stock maps. Most are modifications, some so spectacular they are completely new maps. Some of the user created/modified maps are ordinary, but many are extraordinary. A few are breathtakingly superb.

I guess I may have to break down and order a copy of Raven Shield. Haven't been around much the last week, and we have been doing OFP/ARMA/SWAT3 lately, but a return to Clancy Land isn't out of the question Recluse

People who tried SWAT4 and didn't like it, haven't really played with me much, SWAT, played the right way, is probably the most realistic, tactical experience out there... of course it takes self discipline, control, and extra learning. (My SWAT article at http://www.gettacticaldammit.com), proper stacks, going in by the numbers, covering your zone... 1 man screw up the team is usually dead. lol, But I can see how some...many... don't like the SWAT series.

I admire the simulation of authentic SWAT/police tactics, like not indiscriminately wasting "perps." But that takes all the fun out of it. As a boy I played "soldier" frequently. I never played "cop." I want to kill the bad guys; I don't want to arrest them. Believe it or not, though, I still have SWAT 4 (uninstalled)

Steam is from Value... you know from the games half-life and half-life 2, Counter Strike and all... well they got this community feature now where you can have like a "clan" (I hate that word), schedule events, announcements, chat in game, invite to games etc etc... you can also buy many games from there digital download store... then the site for more info is http://www.steamgames.comNow don't get steam just for a group to play a old game... if you have those old games you can still join and play via teamspeak at http://www.gettacticaldammit.com and others. Actually, were having tech issues with hosting and all so, we are slow to start... but the SB Pro PE user group is getting strong.

Yeah, probably, I've been on vacation and it's rained a lot (lots of gaming time though), but that time slot might not be too bad. It's 9PM for me, but I can usually play for 2 hours. I have all the games listed.

Greetings all I am a member of Magnums "Old school" Steam user group. I currently have a RVS dedicated server up and running. This is a coop mission server running stock maps for the time being. This should eliminate the connection issues presently being experienced. If you folks want to set a day and time we can toss a pass word on it and get down to business. You can find the server via the in game browser as "Team Cerberus" ( not a clan just a couple of old school type players that played together for years,Myself and Welshman that goes bye the name of Hammer). if ya have any maps your partial too let me know and I will get them uploaded to the server.
Post here if you want to get some games going.I am open for most days/nights and times
P.S.....This server is located in Washington DC so should provide good pings for most.I am West Coast and usually see pings in the mid 70s

Sure, I'd like to play some RVS. Will be using Magnum's TeamSpeak server? When you say in-game browser, to you mean the serve Team Cerberus is on Ubi.com? I'm available Friday night (Aug 22).
I know other guys on here that might like to play--Eugene, Striker and Recluse.

I have never used Magnums T/S but if its ok with him its fine with me. What Time ? looks like past games have been at 8pm eastern time which is fine with me but may be a little early for other players from the West Coast.

It was fun playing RVS with you. I can usually play quite late, if it's Friday or Saturday night, which would make the three hour time gap easier for you. On other nights I have to stop playing by midnght (EST) to grab 5 hours of sleep before getting up in the morning to get to my job. But on weekends, I even play in the daytime, after running family errands at the malls.

OK... we got a nice size group going... starting in Sept. I'll post in our Steam calender and here some online events...
We still need to find a good, working server for events... so if you have one to share with the group or able to host without issue, let me know...
I'll try and post 1 week in advance what, when and where we will play.

Magnum, assuming the number of clients isn't outrageous, we haven't had any trouble hosting any GR, Raven Shield, OFP, SWAT 3 etc sessions. Striker has handled 10 Falcon AF clients the last couple Saturdays and has the slowest machine of our little band. We all have pretty robust ISP service as well. Just need to know what night and time to plan on...and assume we would meet up on the SimHQ Team Speak server.
@Recluse - maybe it was last Wednesday night?

I'm working with paladin as we speak to use his server for RS... Our primary meeting place is the SimHQ teamspeak server (so maybe others will see and move to join in), my personal dedicated teamspeak server is just a backup for when SimHQ's is down. I'm looking at every Thursday around 8 PM eastern, rotating the old classic games, till we find what works and what don't. I will be posting the announcement a week prior here at SimHQ and on our Steam calender. Thanks for all who are interested. (of course i just played some practice sessions, and got my ass handed to me...lol... been playing these easy ones too much lately. )

A real goatrope! That last map was insane. Probably did not quite match the degree of finely honed coordination and discipline that the ArmA Military Monday's achieve Magnum, Thursday would be fine except for this week. The time would be a bit early for some of us RetroMen. 10 Eastern is more our availability. But if you and some of the others can stay past then, it should work.

Damn, doesn't anyone have GRAW 2? It's better than GRAW 1. Plays better, looks better, better maps. I finished the Single player game of GRAW 1, played a bunch of multiplayer, then uninstalled for GRAW2.

GRAW2 is nice, but the game is a tad unstable, we had more than a few crashes and bugs in the missions.

GRAW2 is nice, but the game is a tad unstable, we had more than a few crashes and bugs in the missions. Was that through IP connection? I've never experienced a crash in multi with GRAW2. But I've always hooked via ubi. I've never tried an IP hookup with GRAW2.

I realize this is an old thread, but if you guys decide to revisit co-op in SWAT 4, or the expansion, I'd be in for it. I love the co-op in this game but haven't gotten to do it in a very long time. Just have to get re-familiarized with the controls, but that never takes long.
