That´s amazing indeed

The pics are breathtaking and let you look forward to the complete release.

One question, though:

Can the WW2 damage effects like plane explosions, flak, breaking apart of airframes be easily transferred to WW1 standards or have they been changed appropriately. Effect of machine gun projectiles must be different, too

Sorry for asking but I´m no WW1 specialist ;\)

With regard to your question, I think the above pic shows
what happens when an aircraft takes a direct flak hit, and
the latest pic illustrates the effect of machine gun damage
and a wing tearing away. How the pilot managed a bale out
is amazing!

Jan's Dm's are fairly destructive but IMO effective, with
fabric torn off wings exposing the frames, the partial
removal of entire wings, smoke trailed debris and multiple
bullet holes in the fuselages. As for explosions,
I'm using Max 188's enhanced smoke and explosion effects.

All the machines are a skinners paradise, particularly the
plethora of outrageous German paint schemes. You'll become a
WW1 air circus addict I guarantee it!

Thanks for the explanation, Ade. Thought that due to having more canvas than metal on the spars those planes must reaxt different when being shot at, imo.

Years ago I´ve been a Red Baron 1 (Dynamix) addict - one of my favourite occupations was shooting down Zeppelins

Hi Franzee,

the WWI planes didnt act that much different to the WWII planes. The guns was more weak, but so was the planes.
What we need to balance much better in the WWI FM's is the destruction due to critical speeds and g-forces. Thats not easy, cause the damage values for gun damages are also responsible for the structural limits, so a good balance is needed.

The pictures are realy outstanding.

Greetings,

Knegel

Big breakthrough (for me) with WW1 hangar screen sounds,
with the very creative help from Woody and advice re sound editing
wav files and then converting them to WSD's, I've now managed
to add complete authentic WW1 hangar sounds to all 20.

Nieuport, Fokker, Avro, Se5a flybys, engine startups and more,
substituted the Fokker(262 hangar) engine start up and at the same
time retaining the nice background activity sounds plus in flight
radial engine sound now replacing the jet whine and flybys....

Great co-operation and assistance from Woody who also takes
credit for the mainscreen intro music.

pressing on....
