I just trying go get my mental mind together. I want to setup a Seat in RACE 07. And i wonder how should i go about it seeing the car is driving, braking and steering by its front wheel?

Theory of now:
I want as much contact with my front wheel to the tarmac. Which means lesser camber then i would use in a RW ca. And it also means i need more caster to compensate for the loss in camber?
I currently also use pretty much toe in (front) to help me turn in. Since the wheel is spinning front.

Is there a particuler setting i should use to have more force to the front? Like more rebound on the front and more damper to the rear? Is that helping?`

The guides is mostly written for the rw drive. Perhaps there is no differense... but in my mind there should be alot of differens, since driving a fw car is diffferent then driving a rwd car.

And btw, if you haven't fired up RACE 07 since the last patch (1.1.0.4) you owe it yourself doing it.

I am seeking ideas, suggestions... Did a google on the subject and didn't find any good result...

Well, checked the rsc forum and found a setup made by Attila, and it explained everything to me.

A stiff rear, and a soft front, with little off throttle resitance. And, alot of camber and caster.

I must say, this setup made me break the 1.50 barrier in the seat at Zandvoort. Its a dream driving!
1 second faster with only 2 laps, and will make me relearn the track! Woah!

;\)

You seek and you shall find.

Hm, seems like i have learned something new today.

1) the setup.
2) download a fast vcr file. Listen to the sound. Watch the gear. Mimic.

Ah. Soon i will be down to 1.42 at valencia. In a Seat. I couldn't possible go faster then 1.45 before today, and now i realize i can shave many seconds using my newly wone technic... \:\)

(Altough still almost 2 second down to 18 place at the v-wtcc (which have closed... but ... it seems to be the only thing i can race against since no interest whatsover is in this extremly exellent simulator!))

BMW was easier, but could never come to grip with the fw drive seat...

Hm, it seems like i have been driving my cars all the wrong way. Using throttle / brake this way is a killer. It feels like i have finally after umpteenth year got to the next level. Why on earth haven't i downloaded others vcr files before?? Seeing i was on the line with those people doing 1.40, i must be doing something else wrong. I was almost even down to the brake markers. But still i was 5 sec. slower. Using throttle and brake ALOT more aggressiv have helped me. Tss, and i thought i was aggressive before. Soon down to 1.42, its night, and i must sleep. I am almost .3 seconds from my target time, i shaved off 3 seconds in an hour. I guess 1.41.high won't be particular difficult.

Well, I hope i remember what i did when i wake tomorrow! ;\)

Yes i know this is getting tiresome, listening to this.

Here i am, struggling to find the setup. Having the Seat behave like a car.

And now, after a days work, i was anxious to see if it wasn't just a fluke yesterday. Fired up Race07 and started to drive. After doing a 1.43.6 i wondered, if i hade loaded the setup.

It turned out i hadn't. So, in my search for the FW setup and the great length i was trying this yesterday. I am just as fast in the default setup...

Hm, perhaps its true as they say. Once i started to drive the car as i do in forza, the setup didn't make me greater... ;\) Its all in your feet and mind.

Now i will end this self serving thread of no good self bosting.

I wasn't able to go under 42.9 at Valencia in the Seat or Chevy. And that in time trial mode, which is a bit of a cheat.
I have found that setup changes aren't too dramatic in those WTCC cars. You can dial the car to your liking but once you are sorta ok with the handling you won't shave much time fiddling with the settings.

I have watched fast replays and my line is right, I still shed 1 or 2 tenths here and there most laps. T1 for example is wicked: seems a simple corner, but miss the apex by 1 meter and blammo, you are 3 tenths down.

But what kills me is the last sector: can't keep enough speed through the uphill right hander and braking for the last corner is quite random: I rarely get it right.

Well, inside 3 seconds off the aliens in a 100 seconds/lap track is in fact better than I usually do. Helps that I have that track tatooed in my brains from trying to qualify for Sim-Challenge in late 2006.

Yes, the first left hander is a challenging one. If you get it right you really carry your speed out to the following straight. The mid secions make or brake for me is the corner before the sector speed trap. its imperativ getting that corner right and in the seat i notice alot of more feedback than i got from the BMW. If your rear end doesn't lose it and you do not understeer you really can gain speed.

Agree upon the last sector, its the really a challenging one. If you get that part right, all through the uphill corner to the end corner downhill out to the S/F straight you can gain time. I have lost and won easily half a second, and i guess, doing it completly right will gain you even more.

I saw a time of 1.38 at world leaderboard. But i think a more modest time of 1.42.low is doable or perhaps even 1.41.high. But, this is me being optimistic. I am trying hard beeing inside the lines, and drive as "fair" as i can. Using the hood view won't help me in a league race since i am almost 1 second faster in that view racing Race 07.

Valencia is one of the favourite tracks. Hated it when i first raced it. Its difficult, but once you "get it" its really enjoyable and i love turning laps for fun on that track.

After my first apperance in a R2P race i realized that my biggest problem now is not the SPEED its the START! O geez ... i suck utterly in getting the car on the way! ;\) Lost 5 positions in the first race. Just coming of the line... doh.

The speed i had, i was really on par with the SEAT ending at P3... but i hade jitters bigtime and was a little to cautious...

But boy, this race at valencia must have been one of my most exiting online race to date. Ever. Nothing beats close exciting racing!

Ah, too bad. FC.

I think everybody that raced enjoyed it. I had some fun stressing drivers to misstake in T1. Having them brake late. I really have to change my setup (specially toe-in) since my car was slow on the S/F straight . Will use Motec to analyze my gear selection. I think i can win some time by using the correct gears... ;\)

Next race now is Brno at the TRM leauge (tuesday). It will not be as good since my practice at that circuit is from Race06.
