Does anyone have a preference over which kit I should buy. I have heard good things about both and they are about the same price. Any suggestions?

I don't have personal experience with "Hobby Boss" but I've pretty much always had good luck with the few Hasegawa's I worked on in the past.

Here's a review at Cybermodeler.com of the Hobby Boss Hornet, directly comparing it to the Hasegawa kit :

Pros and cons are both dealt with, and while I've only built the Hasegawa kit, what they say about this kit is accurate. Hope this helps.

Go with Hasegawa. better detail by far. Stay away from the Korean kits.
