Didn't even know it existed. Was in Waterstones yesterday and saw it in paperback for £9.99.

I already have his "Wings Of The Luftwaffe" hard back which was my bible in my model making days but this one first published in 2006 is more auto-biographical and talks about the many planes he flew during WW2 and after including many captured planes. Eric Brown has flown more aircraft types than anyone else in the world.

The book is heavy and high quality with nearly 300 pages and a good selection of b&w photos.

ISBN 978-0-7538-2209-8

Look forward to reading it.

yes, wonderful book, I especially liked his description of flying off the catapult carriers and downing FW200's.

Loved this book too. Just gave my copy away to an air minded friend and I'll probably regret it someday. But he is a good friend so I'll probably get it back if I want it.

The Empire Audacity bit was handy for campaign building (Senior Service) but I liked the DH108 Swallow testing where he pushed it to the limits in the footsteps of Geoffrey De Havilland and almost became another victim of the aircraft's vices...'so this is how it happened'. Brilliant.

Yeah good read but I think he had a bit of a sheltered war ... more testing orientated like 'Yeagar' than combat stories. I think 'The Big Show' is the best combat orientated book I've read!

But a bloody good read \:\) in fact, I'm going to read it again!

Lipfert's bio is better than the Big Show.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

I don't have it, but it's on my short list. I do have "Duels in the Sky," which is excellent.
