I got a question for you guys. I'm looking to upgrade my video card and the newest Geforce 9800 GX2 is looking awfully tempting.

They say the 9800 GX2 is essentially two 8800 GTs sandwiched into one card. I have not seen any benchmarks that compare it to two 8800 GTs in SLI mode.

If I am capable of SLI, would I want to spend extra on the 9800 GX2 or just SLI two 8800 GT (or better) cards? Has anyone found any comparisons?

We received a testing sample of Nvidia's GeForce 9800 GX2 a few days ago and are able to report our test findings today. The card is not quite ready for prime time. For example, the drivers provide such poor performance that Quad SLI benchmarks had to be postponed. But, we are ready to report on our findings in other areas."

When it can be shown two 9800 GX2s in SLI mode can outperform two 8800 GTSs by a wide margin, then I'll upgrade. Until then, my two 8800s will work just fine.
